Last year there were only 2 players +15 runs offensively and defensively (you can guess one). He is an elite defender but it's ok to let some of these go

Statcast breaks down how rare Lorenzo Cain’s dazzling catch was against the Mets

Even when he’s having a rough day, Royals center fielder Lorenzo Cain still manages to make a big play.

During the Royals’ 2-0 loss to the Mets on Tuesday, Cain lost a ball in the afternoon sun and admitted it was a challenging day. Yet, Cain made a sensational grab on ball hit by Michael Conforto in the second inning. Cain’s route to the ball was nearly perfect and he ended up running into the outfield wall.

Here is the breakdown from Statcast:

Cain covered 92.6 feet and reached a top speed for 21.6 mph. According to MLB.com, a catch that combined at least 90 feet covered and a speed of at least 21 mph occurred just 25 times during the entire 2015 season. MLB noted that Cain made three of those catches last season, which tied with Detroit’s Anthony Gose for the most in the majors.

I’ll just say this: I love Statcast

Schwarber and Fowler collide in outfield. Fowler smashed right into Schwarber's leg.

Schwarber carted off.

Yeah that was scary and yet funny at the same time. Plus, always cool to see an inside the parker. Schwarber really has no business playing the OF

To clarify, Schwarber's bull in a china shop going after the ball was funny. Not his injury

He's legit awful out there.

Need to get to some games there this year.

Watching Zobrist tonight...unless Infante gets exorcised or something we're gonna miss him so much. So patient, love his ABs. Maybe Moore will make a move by the deadline. I'm not believing in Infante 2.0 until I see it.

I think Omar will be okay but he may never be Zobrist in our eyes, unless he wins a WS MVP or something.

Zobrist is like a machine at the plate. There just aren't many guys out there period that are going to replace that.

Maybe, but Gordon is an elite defender and when his contract ends, he'll be about as old as Zobrist is now. Zobrist will be 38 when his contract is up.

Plus, he took less money to play with the Cubs. He wanted to play with Maddon again, and he's originally from Illinois.

Luckily for the Cubs money isn't an issue and they have Baez waiting, and if he doesn't work out their #1 prospect is a top 30 MiLB shortstop. If Zobrist tanks the Cubs are ready with options B and C, assuming no trades. Also, they just converted Ian Happ to full time 2B.

Let me know if you'd like any advice or would like to tour the area. I'm about to graduate after five years. You're going to love student nights at Kauffman. I've spent many Wednesday's in the nosebleeds at Kauffman Stadium. There aren't many better ways to spend the summers here.

He's dialing back velocity and trying to work on location.

With 6 walks, that didn't go so well. His curve looked much better but not consistent with that pitch either.

I think he likes Soria's slower stuff leading into Wade's power pitches vs power/power with Herrera and Davis.

The problem is that Soria hasn't been effective yet, but it's only been 2 games.

That actually doesn't make any sense. The same batters wouldn't see Herrera and Davis after going in order - you can bet your ass with Soria going like warmed over dog shit that they will though.

Because as a closer last year he had a 2.5 ERA and 1.05 whip. He might fall of a cliff this year but you don't pull the plug just yet. However it is nice to have depth in case he sucks.

Prospect updates: Starling, Mondesi and Cuthbert all off to good starts at the plate.

Starling hit two HR in his game today. Mondesi has homered each of the past two days. And Cuthbert is white hot.

An Open Letter To Royals Fans From A St. Louis Native

One great year does not make up for years of an empty stadium.

Ryan Meyer Apr 11, 2016

Dear Royal Fans,

We understand you won the World Series last year, but the Cardinals have won 11 World Series, and I am not sure about you, but I prefer consistency rather than a world championship once every 30 years. I've been to Kaufmann when the going was tough, and it wasn't pretty. 10,000 or maybe 15,000 fans on a good night back when the Royals were sitting at the bottom of the division for what seemed to be eternity. Busch Stadium seems to sell out almost every night, and I'm not sure what it's like to sit at the bottom of the division since the Cardinals have not finished in last place since 1990. It's not that we're upset you won the World Series in 2015, it's that you believe your organization is more desirable than the Cardinals.

The Cardinals have a rich tradition, winning 11 world series titles, sitting in second place for most World Series titles just behind the historic Yankees. No matter how the season is going, fans show up. The Cardinals haven't had less than 2.6 million fans show up to a year's worth of game since 1997, while the Royals have had more than two million fans show up twice. Those years are 1991, and I bet you can guess, 2015. Once again, this is not an attack on Royals fans, but rather a wake up call when I hear, "We are the greatest sports city in the country!" because that is just straight blasphemy. Sometimes I feel spoiled that I grew up with what is a great baseball club, but I am more grateful now that I attend a school that is away from St. Louis and get to see just how great Cardinals baseball fans are.

It doesn't hurt that one of the greatest moments in baseball, coming in the 2006 World Series, happened to be by a Cardinals player—not only that, but a St. Louis native born and raised. Every knowledgable sports fan can recall when David Freese hit a solo home run to center field to send the World Series to a game seven along with Joe Buck's infamous call, "We will see you tomorrow night!" Rich tradition, a great minor league system, and playing the game the right way have drawn fans to Busch Stadium for years.

I understand that a World Series title every 30 years is exciting, but only showing up when a team is good is sort of like being friends with someone who is rich just because they have a nice house or will take you on vacation. It's all exciting in the moment, but is never eternally satisfying. Just like the famous quote, "You have to enjoy the lows to get the highs," Royals fans, enjoy the highs because you may disappear when the lows return.

Sincerely,

Cardinals Fans Everywhere

Why Not? 04-11-2016 10:03 PM

In other news, I'm already crossing the Mariners off the list of AL teams to pose a real threat this year. How overhyped has this shit show been the past few years? They literally can't score more than 1 run per game. Sorry to hijack but I'm watching them play the Rangers right now

Royals and Cardinals have the same number of titles in the last 30 years. Shut the **** up, trashy ass St. Louis scum.

Ten bucks says if the Cardinals ever go through so much as a 5-year drought, that stadium will make Ferguson look like ****ing Chuck E. Cheese.

Just look at the Rams.
