If we don't make a move for a QB tonight that will be another fugg up on Dorsey's resume. Smith can't be here in 2018. He just can't. We have waited a life time for some hope at QB and he needs to do the right thing. If a QB is worth pick 27 why not at 15? Value shit is stupid in round one. Go get us one Dorsey.

Disagree completely. This is not the year to mortgage everything for a QB. If a decent one falls to 27, outstanding. Otherwise, you're trading a lot of value in a deep draft for a QB that will be a project.

If one doesn't drop, draft a similar project in round 2 or 3. If that doesn't happen, draft a good one next year.

Mr. Laz 04-27-2017 09:57 AM

We have a kick returner already, 2 even.

I think we go with a bigger cornerback if we can.

From the sounds of it, Jackson is a guy the NFL is much higher on than fans and talking heads. DJ has him going 18 in his final mock and added that Jackson's stock is "picking up a lot of steam down the home stretch".

I think it's Wormley if the QB's are gone. We can get a CB later and Dorsey has never reached for immediate need in rd 1, so ILB is out IMO.

I'm hoping that Dorsey has a deal ready in the teens (hi Chris Ballard) in the event that Mahomes/Watson falls.

I really just want a premium position in the first - QB, corner, or an Edge rusher

which means we'll take a RB or TE reach.

Good, this place has been a cemetery for way too long this offseason...

We need some drama and thread wars...

Drafting Mahomes would be awesome in two ways.

1. We'd have a direction for this team.

2. Clay would be ****ing pissed. Even moreso if we trade up for him.

I'd be fine with taking Mahomes, as long as we aren't trading up.

If he falls to 27, take him.

Coochie liquor 04-27-2017 10:23 AM

Hoping for edge rusher, or a solid cb opposite of Peters in the first. Then trade up into the early second to get a qb they like. Don't want to take another guy who won't see the field for a year in the first. There should be a couple decent qb in the early second. None of these qb's are NFL ready.

If you like a QB enough to spend the picks to trade up in the second you should just take him in the 1st. The fact that he'll have to sit a year makes the 5th year option more valuable.

why would you be pissed at taking any of the top 3 QBs? They are literally an upgrade to Alex Smith and signal that his time will eventually be over, and the team will actually have a direction other than losing in the divisional round by field goals because our 32 year old QB can't throw a touchdown when it matters most.

Watson, Mahomes, pretty much anyone and I am happy. Except Peterman he is an Alex Smith clone and stinks.

Quesadilla Joe 04-27-2017 10:33 AM

From Eric Galko's draft rumors column...

— Multiple teams picking in the backend of Round 1 believe Reuben Foster will be on the board for them. The Chiefs, Packers or Saints could stop his fall, which would be more related to his injury history than his character concerns.

Because Clay gets his kicks by being a malcontent. Having a franchise QB in the system would ruin his shtick.

Dee Ford was a reach for need in round 1.

Chiefs were worried that they might lose Hali and Houston.

O.city 04-27-2017 11:04 AM

Would be tough to pass on Foster. Unless one of the qbs are there, he'd be my pick

Meatloaf 04-27-2017 11:06 AM

I am not a R Foster fan....in fact, I am not a fan of ANY Albama player. Their teams are so stacked at so many positions that it's difficult to determine how a given player will stack up without such stout assistance. Foster is a prime example. He's essentially got 5-star players all around him keeping him relatively clean from blockers and able to make a ton of plays. Kudos to him for coming thru and making said plays, but, would he excel if surrounded by lesser players. Thanks, but I'd generally pass on drafting Alabama players.

Steron 04-27-2017 11:06 AM

Watson at 1.27
Mixon at 2.59

Bullshit. Go get him if you must. Teams without stud QBs are doomed. Retreads don't workout for us as we all know. Take a shot for gods sake.

EJ Manuel and Geno Smith were "take a shot" picks for the sake of taking a shot. Fortunately, Dorsey will probably do the right thing.

My God. These drafts are getting almost as bad as the election. Takes months to get here, way over-hyped, too many rumors, fake news, etc. And in the end, all the pundits will be wrong. Again.

Even up to the friggin' day of the event. Today's smear campaign is on Dalvin Cook.

Do we know whose junk flopped out at the combine? That's a decent indicator.

I don't think Chris Jones gets enough love from us here at the CP for whipping it out at the 2016 Combine.

Dude has balls.

Literally.

Give me Mahomes, Watson, Foster, or Cook and I'll be ecstatic.

Anything else and I'll probably have to convince myself to like it, assuming any of those four are on the board.

Patrick Mahomes - QB - Player

The Post-Standard reports Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes is expected to go in the top 10.
Per reporter Matthew Fairburn, the Chiefs are "known to love" Mahomes, and are considering a trade up. The top 10 isn't lacking for quarterback-needy teams, including the team Fairburn covers, the Bills, at No. 10. Although this is considered a relatively poor quarterback class, teams appear prepared to go as crazy as usual pursuing football's most important position.

OK, here's one outta left field. The Chiefs trade up with the Bears and take Trubisky with the 3rd pick.

IF to believe this trade up for QB crap, this makes the most sense.

Still too much to give up.. so I'd hate it.

Only way I'm happy with Trubs in rd 1 is at 27 or a small trade up to 20-ish... but I think he goes #2.

I got a vibe. it involved the bears, trubisky and the chiefs. lol

Discuss Thrower 04-27-2017 07:03 PM

I'd take 1:1 1/2 odds the Chiefs add no one in the first round and opt instead to trade back.

Beyond that I'd imagine just about everyone's draft board has been nuked.

Gravedigger 04-27-2017 07:08 PM

Bengals are listening to offers it seems.

As bad as I wanted it, and man did I want it, I truly didn't expect they'd do it. When I saw "CHIEFS TRADE UP" flash on the screen I got realllllllllllly nervous. I'm sitting there talking out loud "PLEASE MAHOMES PLEASE MOHOMES..." Wife and kids are looking at me like I've lost my mind... then I let out a "**** YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!" My wife picked up the baby, said "what did you smoke" and went to the bedroom to watch TV.
