Really he does. On both sides of the game. Can play anywhere but is best at 2nd. Only thing he can't do that Zobrist can is switch hit.

penbrook 06-23-2017 09:40 PM

Like seriously Merrifield and Zobrist are almost identical. Both can play multiple positions. Both are great contact hitters and will give you 10-15 home runs a year. They both come through in the clutch. Who would of thought that Zobrist was here in KC all along

Ron Swanson 06-23-2017 09:40 PM

Those hosers from the great white north can suck it again.

petegz28 06-23-2017 09:41 PM

I don't think it's a coinkydink that ever since Boni and Whit were placed into the everyday that we started winning. And putting them at 1-2 has been the best decision Nedgar has made in a long, long time.

duncan_idaho 06-23-2017 09:41 PM

That was a very vintage win.

This is the team other AL contenders fear. The team that just wills itself to late wins.

Nice job by the O to pick up Soria. I wonder if they're going to stay in that shift vs. Bautista after he went 3-3 tonight hitting two hoppers through the right side. Sent that whole 9th inning downhill (the walk of Martin also was a major killer).

Blue Jays had some real BABIP luck tonight and still lost. Hope Dr. Vargas can keep it going tomorrow.

Bigger key, IMO, than Bonifacio, has been putting Moustakas in an RBI spot behind the Royals' best OBP guys (and Moustakas, Hosmer, and Perez all also hitting.

Bonifacio has a .594 OPS in the 2 hole. Small sample - just 63 ABs - and I think this slump has more to do with the league adjusting to him than anything else, but he hasn't exactly lit things on fire there.

penbrook 06-23-2017 09:44 PM

Who would of thought that the bottom of our lineup would come through. Moss with the walk, Esky with a bloop single and Gordon with a line shot up the middle.

penbrook 06-23-2017 09:44 PM

Yes Bonifacio is in a slump but he will break out of it.

Been saying since 2015 that Moose is in the wrong spot in the order, I feel like a I'm picking on a reerun with Ned, but he finally figured it out.

SBInfinity 06-23-2017 09:45 PM

let's recognize the heroes of that inning--our 3 sub-.200 hitters

Mossy - walk, scores
Esky - hit, RBI, scores
Gordy - hit, RBI, scores

actually, Esky is hitting .201 now

BWillie 06-23-2017 09:45 PM

My lord that was amazing!

Molitoth 06-23-2017 09:45 PM

When Esky came up to bat I turned the game off and moved my kids to bed.

Luckily my wife had the game on in our bedroom so I got to witness the Gordon and whit at bats.

TLO 06-23-2017 09:46 PM

Wait... We WON? Shame on me for giving up. Shame shame shame.

You should know better by now that it doesn't matter what the score is. The Royals will find a way to comeback and win.

penbrook 06-23-2017 09:48 PM

This reminds me of the 2014/2015 Royals team

penbrook 06-23-2017 09:49 PM

How much does a Merrifield jersey run for?

I agree moving Moose has been huge but it was part and parcel of moving White and Boni into the 1-2. Even at the start of the season I thought Cain should have been 2 and Moose 3 but yest, that has been a big part.

penbrook 06-23-2017 09:50 PM

Meanwhile Whit chest bumped Boni and Boni almost killed him

Even Salvy is hitting near .300 that's also helping Moose out

RollChiefsRoll 06-23-2017 09:53 PM

You guys, I have a raging megahuge boner and I think it's gonna last longer than four hours.

PHOG 06-23-2017 09:53 PM

Does anyone have a video of Boni trucking Whit

duncan_idaho 06-23-2017 10:04 PM

Mondesi had two more hits in Omaha tonight, too. They got bombed (Staumont walked six in less than two innings, regressing BIG TIME), but Mondesi and Soler keep crushing.

The 1-4 of Billy Burns, Mondesi, Starling, and Soler is probably better than the 1-4 Dayton Moore inherited or put on the field in 2007.

If the improvement Bubba Starling has made sticks/holds, they should give Omaha hitting coach Tommy Gregg a medal*. A simple mechanical change for Starling suddenly has him hitting to all fields and made his strikeout rate plummet (a guy with a career 32 percent K rate entering the year, Starling has dropped that to twenty percent since the beginning of May - that's 150 ABs).

*Maybe he needs to spend a few weeks in Alex Gordon's spare room?

Pablo 06-23-2017 10:08 PM

That was just awesome. What a run! Glad I kept half ass watching after Soria ****ed us.

thebrad84 06-23-2017 10:10 PM

What a game. You know that Gibbons has got to ****ing hate this ball park by now. God I love that.

penbrook 06-23-2017 10:18 PM

All of the runs we scored in the ninth were all with 2 outs

I'm in a lodge at the Grand Canyon. Driving back from a day outing and get back to the lodge as Moose makes the second out(listening to satellite radio, the best invention of mankind)and I tell the kids "okay, out we go games over". Caught yh score on Sportscenter. Had to hightail it to the lodge lobby to get wifi and get the recap here. Don't care. What a win!!!!!!

That is a hell of an accomplishment. No, really.

siberian khatru 06-24-2017 02:40 AM

So after working a 12-hour day I was beat, and went to bed after Soria gave up the fourth run in the 9th.

Thanks for making me look like a genious, guys! ROFL

Back to .500. Now I'm in.

Munson 06-24-2017 05:33 AM

Damn, I love waking up to a Royals win!

I fell asleep when we were down 2-1, and figured we wouldn't do shit the rest of the game. I'm glad I was wrong.

I can only imagine the butthurt coming from Blue Jays fans. LMAO

ChiTown 06-24-2017 06:16 AM

We got home around 230am this morning from the game last night. I couldn't sleep. I'm still pumped about Whit's clutch walk-off double. So much fun...but now I wish we would have stayed to go to this afternoon's game.

PHOG 06-24-2017 06:50 AM

And we snapped another streak, although rather obscure, its the Blue Jays first loss when leading by three runs with two outs in the ninth since 2007. :p

I've always wondered why the best hitting coaches don't travel around through the minors? The time a guy really needs a hitting coach is when he's coming up trying to make it, not when he's in the majors.
