That's got to be a penalty. And he's lucky not to get sent off there

So technically he was offsides with that technology they just showed. Not sure I like that type of precise adaptation. It's not the same as when a runners foot slips off the base in baseball but I get the same feeling about it.

But the NFL can't get that precise on the goal line

Qatar looked good when they came over here in the tournament. Is this just nerves or did concacaf make them look good?

They look like the worst World Cup team I've ever seen.

Even worse than North Korea.

They looked dynamic in the summer. We all know concacaf isn't eufa but this is night and day. We probably have no clue the pressure they are under.

Jewish Rabbi 11-20-2022 11:28 AM

Probably gonna be some executions after the group stage for the Qatari national team

I had friends attend that shitshow.

The lineup was terrible.

Womble 11-20-2022 07:01 PM

Pulisic stripped of the captaincy. Good thing the angry wee man can't bring his gun collection into the country.

Eleazar 11-21-2022 07:57 AM

England’s got 3 in the first half and there are 14 minutes being added on. Sounds like a normal match…

Iranian goalkeeper got KO'd and was down for 10 minutes. Should have been subbed off immediately for a concussion but he tried to do a Tua and continue.

Why can't we just have an all American team of analysts/journalists during pre-game and half-time instead of some of these English wankers

Because Americans think English accent automatically means knowledgeable about soccer

Rather listen to English commentators for world football, they’re going to generally be more knowledgeable about the European players.

I like this lineup. Few really good spark plugs in Reyna, Aaronson, and Ferreira to bring some extra energy and pace late in the match if we need a goal. Should be a great matchup today!

Eleazar 11-21-2022 12:21 PM

Is McKinnie fully healthy?

I hate to make this a must win game, but if we’re going to advance it will probably have to be at the expense of Wales, so we really need at least a point.

TripleThreat 11-21-2022 12:27 PM

Surprised Reyna isn't starting today but I get it, if they are looking to use him for a change of pace during the game at some point.

WilliamTheIrish 11-21-2022 12:29 PM

I enjoyed Stallone’s intro.

Vs Wales and vs Iran are must win games. Need those wins to guarantee advancement out of the group stage.

|Zach| 11-21-2022 12:52 PM

Been non plussed about this World Cup but with the US about to play can’t help but be excited to see what all these young players can do. The team has been exciting and bold in qualifying. They are good on the ball and fundamentally sound. Going to be interesting to see how they do.

This first game probably tells us if they advance or not.

I was thinking that if we draw Wales and beat Iran, maybe we advance or survive on goal difference.

Draw today you have to beat Iran. Win today and US controls their own destiny.

Today is a must win.

|Zach| 11-21-2022 01:27 PM

Whoever didn’t like Ream in this thread. Right now he 15 for 15, all super high up the field and in/into traffic. he's singlehandedly making this system work, can you imagine aaron long trying to carry/pass the ball out like this?

comochiefsfan 11-21-2022 01:27 PM

Soccer is boring but go USA.

BleedingRed 11-21-2022 01:28 PM

|Zach| 11-21-2022 01:29 PM

Pretty sure Gio Reyna is going to come on and shred these guys in the 2nd half.

Eleazar 11-21-2022 01:29 PM

More attacking threat than expected so far. Wales seem a little out of sorts.

Soccer can be boring but when the game is up and down the field, it is exhilarating to behold.

Not a fan of the liberal lineage rules.

Look at the French Foreign Legion.

George Liquor 11-21-2022 01:51 PM

Not the brightest soccer mind around here, but I don't think you could ask for a better first half.

Eleazar 11-21-2022 01:52 PM

Well, pretty good. More of the ball, more of the threat. Wales has both Bale and a CB on a yellow. No shots on target for them. Hard to complain about that half.

|Zach| 11-21-2022 01:53 PM

Good start they did what was asked of them. Just really have to stay smart in the second half everything can change in a moment.

Eleazar 11-21-2022 02:01 PM

You can see a young team here that needs to learn to maintain its composure. How are they going to handle a more aggressive posture from Wales as that comes in the second half will be something to see. Got away with a few turnovers in dangerous places I think.

Great Expectations 11-21-2022 02:05 PM

I thought they showed remarkable patience for being such a young team.

|Zach| 11-21-2022 02:18 PM

We need to to take Dest off. And probably Mckennie.

Eleazar 11-21-2022 02:20 PM

Seems like a defensive sub would be in order here, game starting to tilt away

|Zach| 11-21-2022 02:22 PM

Need more meaningful possession.

kstater 11-21-2022 02:22 PM

That sure looked like a foul
