I mean, sure, if the market really is THAT bad wouldn't hurt to have another body in the room.

What?

Davis is a legit starting CB on any team and a #1 on many. He and Adebo, who was quickly snapped up by the Giants, were easily the top outside CBs on the market.
Landry is a consistent pass rusher who is firmly a top 45 guy at that, and they paid less than we paid Nick Bolton
Spillane has been top 10 in the league in tackles for two consecutive seasons.

I fail to see how any of these are "awful."

Spillane is the epitome of Jag.

I'd be shocked if they don't, and that makes this a good thing. I hope they want Najee to be a starter and workhorse. That's would really lower their ceiling.

RunKC 03-10-2025 06:00 PM

Broncos are going to be tough next year unfortunately. Nix isn’t elite but he’s got a very good OL and Defense. I’d bet they add Egbuka/Loveland and one of the top RB’s in the draft

UChieffyBugger 03-10-2025 06:03 PM

One thing for sure the Niners are getting a bunch of picks next season.

Moore
Hufanga
Ward
Greenlaw
Banks

All got big deals. They've mastered the art of getting picks this way and via their coaching and front office staff being poached too.

Look at the metrics? He had 9 sacks, 15 QB hits and 15 TFL last season to go with his 71 tackles. Those metrics? Or PFF's "grade."

He's an above-average 3-4 Rush LB. He's making less than 24 ER and LBs, which puts him towards the bottom of the heap of "#1" players at a similar position, which is exactly what he is as a player.

That's a solid value signing IMO and far and away not "awful."

Say what you will about Spillane but he was #3 in the league last year in tackles. That doesn't happen by being JAG. He's gotten better every single year he's been in the league. Definitely not awful.

Davis will play opposite Christian Gonzalez at CB. That secondary is now pretty damned good.

They also added Milton Williams to put up front with Keion White and Christian Barmore. That DL is LEGIT.

That entire defense for Vrabel just got a lot better.

They also added Morgan Moses at RT. They could stand to get better at LT, WR, and RB. That's not a tall order picking at #4.

New England got a lot better today. A lot.

Denver and Chicago spending big and making splashes on day 1.

Usually day 1 splashes dont result in the best teams though

Day 2 is where the very good signings and deals take place

Tough because we made it tough. We all saw what Buffalo did to them and that offense hasn't been improved.

GordonGekko 03-10-2025 06:56 PM

Yes, the Denver games have turned into extremely rough games, almost painful to watch. All the more reason to develop a top tier running game ASAP to help Mahomes in these upcoming rough divisional defensive games

I like that the market hasn't flown together for Chase Young.

If we could get him at the 2nd waive FA price for 2 years, that would be pretty sweet. Not gonna get him at that price point with any real term, but might be able to get him signed to a similar deal to Omenihu (adjusted for the cap increase).

I still think he's a damn talented player.

Yeah - that's what we should do.

Caveman it up against teams that are TRYING to caveman it up. Let's go ahead and take the biggest advantage we have over them and lessen it by leaning into the running game.

What's with so many of y'all trying to do the opponents job for them?

Bummer.

I may have engaged at those numbers anyway. If he'd have sat there for another day and been around 42 with incentives brining to it $48 it's a no-brainer.

But really, I'm surprised it took that long at those figures.

If we're going to sign a FA safety, at least target Holland with the idea that he brings you something you don't already have.

Umm. They drafted OTs in the 1st round in back-to-back drafts in Broderick Jones and Troy Fautaunu. The plan, I have heard, is to have Jones go to LT and Fauntanu at RT.

Pardon, not an attack on you, but I think these "win rate" metrics are stupid as ****. They are insanely subjective. Not only that, if a guy is getting pressures and sacks and stopping the run, he's doing his job. It's the same thing on the OL. If he's not giving up pressures and sacks and committing penalties, then he's likely doing his job. How well he won the rep doesn't really matter. It's football. It's not about style points, it's about doing your job.

The basic argument is he requires scheming to get pressure which doesn't fix their issue of not getting pressure from the front 4.
