Just researching him and I've seen him be compared to Diggs and Godwin. Dude has so much tools to work with. Decent speed, height, agility, great hands, smooth routes etc. And in the last three years he's averaged 800 yards despite not playing with great QB's. Right now I have high hopes for him going into camp tbh.

I'm surprised we haven't signed any NTs. Not that I'd expect a UDFA to play a significant role as a rookie, but looking at the roster my biggest question would be who is playing those Nnadi run stuffer snaps.

Texas A&M TE Tre Watson has signed for KC. Was with Fresno State before moving to Texas. Never put up big stats but dude looks a little like Isiah Likely and their physical stats are literally the same.

Pennel is 34 and probably shouldn't be expected to play a bigger role, and the other three are Practice Squad guys that aren't necessarily a step up from a UDFA. I'm not saying the sky is falling here, but I am surprised. This seems like a spot that could use some more competition.

The experience gives them a step up from a UDFA.

Siaki Ika's fall has been epic and quick. He was what, a sthird round pick, but was often mocked in the 2nd round, was released by the BROWNS that same year, Eagles picked him and released him twice I think the next year, and then we picked him up. Is he just that bad or does he have poor work ethic? I am kind of shocked. How often do you spend a third on a DT and release him the same year he's drafted? That's some Isaiah Wilson type shit.

Raheem Mostert was signed and released by SIX TEAMS before he finally broke through in San Fran. Clearly Spags and Veach see something in him as he was in the system last year and is still with the team. He'll have this next camp to step up and show what he's got. He's still only 24 so there's still time imo.

royr17 04-28-2025 03:51 AM

So does anybody know when rookie mini camp is

Titty Meat 04-29-2025 09:20 AM

Micah Mazzccua got mini camp invite. He's a total headcase but he's better than Caliendo.

Palangi 04-29-2025 10:58 AM

Some interesting options along the offensive line this year
Esa Pole 6’5” 320 he’s a guy that if needs be can kick down to guard. Big physical kid with great movement skills.

Dalton Cooper 6’6” 320 played RT at Oklahoma state last two years. Very solid player. Has higher upside than Driscoll.

Blaise Sparks 6’7” 335 played at Illinois before transferring to Delaware. Plays nasty. Solid RT option or swing tackle type.

UChieffyBugger 04-29-2025 11:54 AM

Will Brooks the safety from Tennesse has signed with KC and looks a very interesting prospect. 6'1, 203 pounds and ran a 4:58. Last year he got multiple picks including a pick 6 and is said to be a hard working and intelligent player. Every year there's an undrafted DB who makes noise at camp and this guy might be him tbh as the tools are certainly there.

UChieffyBugger 04-29-2025 02:52 PM

Corey Flagg Jr and Damien Alford have both been invited to the Chiefs rookie mini-camp. Flagg is a local LB who already visited KC before the draft. Both have invites to other rookie camps too.

I agree. The highlights look pretty impressive. Why wasn't he drafted?

Dante84 05-01-2025 08:46 PM

I asked ChatGPT:

Quote:

Jake Briningstool, the former Clemson tight end, went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft primarily due to concerns about his blocking abilities, physical attributes, and overall athletic profile.

Reasons for Going Undrafted
1. Blocking Limitations: Briningstool struggled as an in-line blocker, often being overpowered by stronger defenders. His effectiveness was more pronounced when flexed out against smaller defenders, but he lacked the strength and technique required for consistent blocking at the NFL level .
2. Physical Concerns: At 6’5” and 241 pounds, he possessed a lean frame for the tight end position. Additionally, his hand size measured under 9 inches, raising concerns about his ability to secure catches in traffic .
3. Athletic Testing: Briningstool did not participate in key athletic drills at the NFL Combine, leaving teams without measurable data to assess his speed, agility, and explosiveness .
4. Contested Catch Challenges: While he was a reliable target in open space, Briningstool had difficulty securing contested catches, coming down with less than 50% of such opportunities during his college career.

smithandrew051 05-01-2025 09:13 PM

Briningstool is like 3” taller than Noah Gray and was a much more productive college player.

Mismatch on linebackers, catch radius advantage on most defenders, good straight line speed, made plenty of contested catches on these highlights.

He’s going to push for TE3 real fast IMO.

There are reasons why Wiley was a mid round pick and this kid was undrafted.

This is just camp hero nonsense, Ricky Stanzi style.

Wiley's ceiling is TE1.

This kid's ceiling is likely TE3. And maybe not even that, because he can't block for shit. And he runs a 4.85. Yeah, no.

Briningstool broke records at Clemson and has better technical skills as a receiver imo and is a younger guy too. I ain't lost hope In Wiley but I think this new kid definitely has a shot at making some noise in camp.

UChieffyBugger 05-03-2025 02:54 PM

Anyway another WR was added to the UDFA list. San Diego WR Justin Lockhart. 24 years old and put up 900 yards and 5 TD's last season. Looks tall with decent speed so we'll see.

The early returns on Wiley weren't great even before the injury. As people who love to put practices and training camp under a microscope do.

All is not lost of course but if you redrafted nobody would draft him in the 3rd round.

Because he didn't light it up as TE3 in Andy Reid's offense right away?

Nonsense.

there's zero reason to be down on Wiley. If he's healthy and had a year to learn the offense, he'll be light years away from a TE so slow that Bolton could cover him in man.

"The early returns"

Dude, he was a rookie TE who only played half of a season. And even then, I'm sorry, but he's going up against a rando undrafted douche.

You're doing exactly the behavior you hate in training camp threads -- where somebody's ass gets crowned too soon. Doesn't matter the reason. At least in training camp threads people crown guy's asses mostly because Chiefs media will hype them up or because we see the coaches giving them increased workload and opportunities. You? You're guilty of the tired age-old "Well he certainly can't be any WORSE than Player X!" And you're doing it with a player who's barely had any time to show he can be a contributor to the team at a deep position on the team (yes, Kelce + Gray = deep at TE) that historically hasn't been successful for rookies.

Am I crazy to think Czaplicki might have a shot at making the roster? Punt God was Punt Meh last season, and his touchbacks were infuriating.... at the very least, competition will do Matt good.

Hey if Chiefsplanet places so much emphasis on training camp for those who appear to perform well shouldn't that same scrutiny exist for players who struggle?

And yes I am. Proving a point that any reaction to training camp is pretty much stupid.

This kid ran a 4.85.

!

Pretty sure Norman-Lott runs a 4.85.

SLOW. SLOW. TOO ****ING SLOW to be an NFL TE.

Wiley ran a 4.6, for comparison.

This kid ain't making the 53.

This is Ricky Stanzi territory.

No he didn't. He ran a 4.75.

One of the least important metrics is the 40 meter dash anyway. Gronk ran a 4.7.

I think he has a shot at TE3. I'm not calling it but Wiley will have to battle.

RealSNR 05-03-2025 05:11 PM

40 meter dash? LMAO

40 YARD dash, you mean?

Gronk could get away with it because he hit like a damned freight train when he blocked.
