Pretty sure I'm gonna need to play game warden with R8R and bust out the tape measure on one of those, though... do you have your fishing license on you, Mr R8R?

Yea the smallest was 9 1/2 ... They used to have an 8 inch minimum on that lake but it produced too fast and they have too many smaller fish... They want you to take the small ones out... They eat good as long as you are good with the electric knife

Found this site and I'm going to start working some fishing around peak lunar days to see how much the lunar influence affects fishing. Type in your zipcode to get your specific location. In the upper left hand corner "Location"

Looks like some really good fishing coming up Dec 22nd/23rd

That's a good woman. How heavy is it? Is it small enough to put on top of your car / in the pickup bed or do you need a trailer?

It fits perfect on top of my Chevy HHR with straps. That's how i took my other kayak. She felt bad i wrecked it in the rocks and almost died. It was literally wrapped around a rock people told me it was folded in half  That's when i knew i was ****ed hanging onto the kayak but i couldn't get it to budge so I said to myself "I can always get a new kayak but i can't buy me a new me" Then i let go and the current thrust me down the river and i was like a human pinball.

Can't wait to get back out on the water again :D

I picked up a couple of those fishing kayaks if you years ago for my son and I. Built a rack in the garage so they are easy to get to and load and unload out of the truck. They are awesome. You can get to places you can’t otherwise get to and that a lot of bigger boats are unable to get to. We use them on a lot a little lakes around Kansas City

The Fishing Thread

I’ve had my kayak for years now. At this point I’ve got all sorts of great attachments like a fish finder, anchor, etc. I still just have a sedan but using the inflatable roof rack works great. There are newer options out now as well. At this point there is really no barrier to having one.

Basically a fishing kayak is the cheapest and easiest way to get in a boat on the water. As long as you have room to store it I’d really recommend any longtime fisherman or a person just getting into it to get one.

You know what I got me a new chick I love that I've been going out with since November and she is way better looking and I'm much happier and she is another nurse but she has the cutest dimples ever! I liked the other one but wasn't in like with her and I love this one and I'm I'm going be moving to eastern Kansas because we are both transferring to Osawatomie . Yes the other one bought me a Kayak but i think that was out of desperation because i told her I found someone else and i was going go out with . Well I love this chick and going move to Fort Scott where she has a home and all i have to do is help with some bills and I'm gold to go fishing all i want and switching jobs out there my work schedule will give me more time to fish and do "honey do list" but she also is a Royals fan and goes to Royals games so I'm hooked up to go to Royals games so those Hone do list will just have to get done I'll be good for her because I know she is good for me. :)

I've never fallen in love before like this I've been a bachelor for ten years I don't know what i'm doing but it feels right !

She could be the best catch i've ever had so I'm not going let her go .

One word of advice. Don't let the new one find out the old one bought you the kayak. At one point in time you'll go fishing before, during, or after an argument with her..........need I say more.:D

Okay. Wish I knew how to embed pics. Took my boys(9 and 7)out two weeks ago when we went to visit my buddy in NOLA. Went out of Jean Lafitte, LA on a 5 hour Bayou charter. No sooner had my 9 year old cast out, he had a huge black drum on the line. That set the tone for the rest of the day. Both kids caught some big drum and a few redfish. All told, we caught 19 fish. Got em cleaned, and took em to a little place up the road that blackened some and made nuggets out of some more. Great eating! Holy hell, redfish is delicious. And I didn’t know but it goes for about $50 a plate at the nicer places in NO. Great time had by all. If you guys get a chance, I highly recommend fishing there

It's not going to be long and crappie will be spawning. Ice tore the dock up a little this winter. Gang plank got a little twisted. Not much a guy can do though. Just gotta go fix it.

Killer. Never been fishing anywhere that far south but have wanted to. Nowadays I do almost all my fishing on creeks and rivers in the Ozarks for bass and catfish with the exception for lakes during crappie season.
I've been cooped up too long this year and the fishing bug has hit me pretty hard lately.

Damn nice. I've caught a lot of Northern but none that big. Was lucky enough to spend a spring, summer, and fall living in upstate Vermont with Lake Champlain as my backyard. Also spent a week in Ontario on Lac Seul catching the hell out of Northern and Walleye. JFC that walleye shore lunch was the best I ever had.

I really don't like fish that much. I'll eat it from time to time but not that often.
The walleye was so damn good up there that the first day I ate so much I spent the next hour or two laying on the deck of the boat and moaning about my way overstuffed gut. I was in some serious pain.ROFL

Windy as shit here today. Planting seeds and getting the garden ready as much as I can. Hoping the cold is done so I can keep the green house warm but I will lose if it falls below 0. Unless I haul into the shed or barn. Just always seems like a ton of extra work, never easy street. Weather cooperates I will definitely be getting a line wet. I can’t wait.

Scouting out new spots is one of my favorite things about fishing, just love finding those little used places that others don't even consider

I get soooooo bored going to the same places all the time

Been watching a ton of youtube guerrilla fishermen lately, they'll go to these weird places hidden in plain sight like a drainage pond behind Walmart that got flooded by a nearby creek a few years ago and got stocked that way

Or some tiny little ditch that holds water year round, and they'll come out of places like that having absolutely slayed them... I'm excited about getting creative like that this year

It was a good day. Not many fish, but the one I got in was a 20 inch rainbow. Caught him about a 1/2 mile up from the dam.

I'll sometimes fish the area that butts right against the Boy Scouts property. Some good little pools in there.

No picture of the fish, because i was up to my belly in the water, but this should do.

I was looking at the markings. I believe northerns to be more spots on the side. Muskies have more stripes like the picture shows. It's been a long time since I was fishing in Canada and back then I had never heard of tiger muskies, which I think are a northern/muskie cross?

A fishing thread, on a football forum . . . who'da thought?

Anyway, I was a conventional bass fisherman for about three decades, even fished a few pro-am bass tourneys back when I lived in STL. Biggest bass I ever caught was out of Grand Lake in OK, oh, had to be in '91 or '92. She was caught on a red crawfish Bomber A off a floating dock during a full moon. She ended up weighing 10 lbs. 8 oz.

About 15 years ago, whenI moved to AZ, I took the leap into fly-fishing, and really haven't looked back. Mostly I fish for trout:

Thanks. The hard part is learning how to cast. The arm mechanics are so different from conventional casting it took me months to teach myself to cast acceptably, and a few years before I was considered an expert.

Fortunately, I found that gamefish behavior is fairly similar, regardless of species. So trout behavior isn't that different from bass behavior; they're just more choosy and spook easier.

Damned hobby is expensive though. I fish in WY, MT, AZ, CO, UT, and NM. That's about $500 in annual fishing licenses every year.

Yes indeed. He really is. Beautiful fish and I'm happy it's Spring! Love to browse this thread and see what everyone's catching. Hoping I'll get a chance to get down to the White River and get a big 'ol brown trout here soon.

Been watching this dude on youtube called Creek Fishing Adventures, 80% of what he does is try to find the biggest fish in the tiniest bodies of water... you look where he is casting and are just going WTF no way anything worth catching is in that puddle

Couple casts later and he is pulling beautiful 2-3 pound bass out it... so I went to the tiny town creek inspired by that and caught my first creek chub

It was huge for the species, big around as a full size cigar, not a sexy fish but just to see such a great example of one in that shallow, dirty creek was awesome

I still wanna hunt those 5 pound bass, but it's fun as hell to see what's possible in the smallest of streams...

Nice. I'll check it out.

There are nice fish everywhere. If you keep an open mind you'll have fun fishing a lot of places.

This is the other reason I fly-fish: the scenery

The Fishing Thread

The scenery and really being part of the nature with the wading is really what makes fly fishing special, especially in the shallow water areas.

Unfortunately there isn’t much opportunity for it here in Kansas so it’s hard to really get those experiences. I know some people like to fly fish creeks and small ponds around here for small species like blue gill but it’s definitely not the same.

Welp, there is hardly a cloud in the sky here and it's 50 degrees... time to take a shower and go hit some fishing holes

Gonna slay'em I can just feel it...

They are almost always biting at my spot lol.

The national crappie champ was crying about my spot last night.

But that water's going to warm up quick and the spawn will be on us.

Easy 6 03-16-2019 03:48 PM

Nabbed 6 more fat creek chubs and had a genuine hard strike from something that got off, probably a baby bass or good size bluegill... all in all it was 2 or so hours well spent
