If Cassel had no running game he'd shit the bed constantly.

Besides, Grbac was still throwing the ball down the field, and doing so accurately.

So you think the QB who throws 50 times a game isn't going to accumulate more yards than the one who throws 25-30?

Stick to bootlegging.

Yeah, the problem with that (from the organization's perspective) is that we'd be talking about a guy who could and should be starting from the jump, like a Kolb.

I would bet good money that Pioli views the Chiefs as Cassel's team. Drafting a QB, however, wouldn't necessarily **** with that vision in the immediate future.

I wasn't proposing that they acquire another vet now; that comment was regarding whoever the quarterback after Cassel would be.

Exaggeration.

Grbac threw 36 times per game that year. Cassel threw 30 times per game this year.

Huge difference!

The difference is that the Chiefs had a down the field passing game...the current Chiefs do not.

Grbac got that 4000 yard season his 4th year in KC.

I don't understand how that applies to Cassel then. Maybe he'll get his in his 4th year too.

Maybe he'll get one in his 10th year.

God I hope there's a 10th year!

Thats not the point. The point is that I don't understand why GoChiefs is showing Grbacs 4th year stats and comparing it to Cassel's 2nd year stats. Grbac had worse stats his first TWO years than Cassel had last year.

Technically this is his 3rd year as a starter but, whatever.

That's because Grbac sucked.

And as ROR said, Cassel has had three years starting, which equates to 45 starts.

After four seasons in KC Grbac had 47 starts.

What has he done when something absolutely needed to happen? He had one drive to put his team in position to win. However, before you jimp, the ball was on the 50, they ran twice, and he threw a jump ball to a 6'5 receiver on a 5'9 corner that pretty much any QB could make in the NFL. He was epically bad most of that game, but his defense kept him in it.

Sanchez is a good quarterback that benefits from an all-world OL and a stud defense. He has a coach that takes ALL heat off him with his ridiculous rants. It's impressive he keeps winning no doubt, and I clearly think he's better than Cassel, but there's no chance I think he replicates his success here based on the lack off offensive line, and the defense not being at the Jets level.

The Sanchize has had 4 legitimate late 4th quarter game winning drives this year (detroit, houston, indy, cleveland). The Casshole has had 1 game winning drive in 2 seasons of football on a play where his receiver ran 60+ yards on a short crossing route. I don't think Sanchez is that great but he has shown a propensity to improve when it really matters whereas the Casshole consistently pisses down his leg when things get tight .

The starting corners for Baltimore were 5'9'' and 5'10'' and our starting receivers were 6'2'' (Bowe) and 6'1'' (Tucker)

Pure and simple, Cassel started playing better at the point that most good quarterbacks turn a huge corner for their career. After 36 starts. I said this toward the beginning of the season and reiterated it before he made his jump during the Denver game...its not an EXACT science, but its damn close.

I have hope that the guy can continue to develop and get better IF (and this is a HUGE if) we can get a god QB coach/OC in here that can bring him along similarly to how Weis did. I know the options at this point are getting slim, but there are surely options.

Tom Clements of GB
Matt Cavenaugh NYJ QB coach
Randy Fichtner Pittsburgh QB coach
Joe Lombardi NO QB coach
Jeremy Bates Formerly of Seattle

I dont know everything about these guys, but I know that the players under their watch have looked better for it.

If Haley is indeed looking to call the plays and teach an up and comer how he wants it done, these co0uld be worthy candidates.

Wasn't Tom Clements with us before as a QB coach?

he played for us in the 80s and was our quarterbacks coach in 2000...the only good statistical year Grbac had.

Dude would be a absolute STUD pickup as a new OC.

Not sure if his personality would mesh with that of Haley though...not saying either way as I dont know of how he is in person.

Those are the guys I would hope we have on our radar as guys that can help Cassel continue to grow

That's the way I understand it. It's not just KC.

I laugh when watching stories on Bradshaw. He was booed off the field and had his likeness hanging from the end of of a rope during his second year in Pitt.

Pioli Zombie 01-22-2011 10:04 PM

Michael Douglas would be better than Matt Cassel. Trigg Palin would be better than Matt Cassel.
