If Pioli doesn't draft Luck or RG3, he may as well tender his resignation for all I care.

Pretty much this. No one has been able to anticipate the Chiefs drafts in the Pioli era. Good or bad.

Could you imagine the weeping and gnashing of teeth if we go through this third trimester abortion of a season only to draft Riley Reiff?

Orton will be the starter and soon. There is no other reason for us to have signed him.

He did not win 23 games.
As far as I can find, he did not graduate.
He really wasn't even a full three-year starter as he took over the starting role in the sixth week in 2006.

Maybe Parcell's method is antiquated, but it was probably a portion of the criteria Pioli used to assess QBs.

How does Cassel measure up to that standard?

Depending on where the Chiefs end up drafting, I wouldn't hate a Martin/Reiff pick.

If the Chiefs miss out on Barkley and RG3 because Miami and ?? are ahead of the Chiefs what positions are we looking at that would be a value pick in the top 10? QB, OL, LB and WR?

QB's you're looking at Jones and Tannehill. I wouldn't hate either but Jones has dropped off my watch list. I still don't get where this whole "Jones is Cassel 2.0" shit comes from though. Tannehill can be had later, maybe try and trade down with the Broncos/Browns.

OL you're looking at Martin and Reiff. Either would be good value, imo.

LB you're looking at reaching.

WR we are set. Unless Pioli wants to Franchise-trade Bowe for a first, which I wouldn't hate.

You could also look at RB but I'm really not a fan of drafting high on RB's. How many times does some third day/UDFA have to come in and tear shit up. OL has more to do with RB's, imo.

I like Reilly Reiff but I don't see him as a big-time NFL prospect. He's probably slightly below Bulaga, which means he'll probably go right in between where we pick in the 1st and where we pick in the 2nd.

I agree. I'm thinking they release Cassel and start Orton next year. It's just the f'ed up thing the Chiefs do.

That's how I see him as well.

If he falls to the mid 20s or so (which he wont due to the need for the position as opposed to the amount of legit prospects out there to fill the need) I would be on board to trade up for him from our 2.

Sounds like a Pioli pick to me.

If he knew what was good for him, Haley will cut him before next season, draft a rookie QB, and have him battle it out against Orton for the starting position next year. Frankly, Matt Cassell has proven himself unworthy of being the next great Chiefs QB.

LMAO "Matt Cassell has proven himself unworthy of being the next great Chiefs QB". Name me three great Chiefs QB's. I can think of Dawson and possibly Green even though calling him great might be a stretch. Montana was a rental and does not qualify as a "great Chiefs QB."

yep, other than the three you named the Chiefs have gone with camp fodder for qbs.

Hmmm ... next great Chiefs QB ... ... hmmmmm.

Steven Leroy DeBerg was great at one time.

Well, he was next at one time, anyway.
