you just know it's coming

After his idiot bullshit with Fisher and Stephenson last year (I still can't ****ing believe he let Stephenson pout his way over to LT), I have far less faith in Andy 'finding the right mix' than most do around here.

I'm just glad he finally has some talent to work with, but if there's a chance to dick with it, I expect he will.

If Ehinger struggles against the Chargers, I wouldn't be surprised to see Fulton start against the Texans and their formidable defensive line.

You know Watt's likely out right?

They'll still have a better defensive front seven than the Chargers

Yea no doubt about that, though Houston isn't that strong in the interior DL without Watt.

RunKC 08-24-2016 04:10 PM

The thing that scares me about Houston is their edge rushers. Mercilus has ascended to a double-digit sack artist and Clowney is showing that ability that got him drafted 1st overall.

Especially if any of the Clowney hype is legit.

Mercilus ain't nothing to **** with; kid can play. And if Clowney is playing to even 80% of his ability, he's a force.

But hey, it could be worse. We could be starting Alan Fanaika at RT. Repeatedly.

Jesus....how did it get to that?

Fanaika never started a game for us in the regular season.

Pre-season.

I think he started at least games 2 and 3.

And was able to almost single-handedly chop the field in half for us. Guy couldn't do a goddamn thing out there.

It sucks that he's weakish, but like we've seen, he's athletic and smart. ****, for the last decade we haven't had a lg be able to even pick up a stunt.

I don't know that it's the problem were making it out to be

You beat me to my edit, but yea I do remember those preseason games. He was flat out awful. Thank god he got hurt before the season started so we never had to see that shit in a real game.

It was certainly a problem against the Rams. Every pressure and sack on Alex Smith (save one, when Fisher allowed the end to run around him) came on Ehinger's watch.

Again, Aaron Donald is a monster but Ehinger needs to grow up in a hurry.

They're going to have to help him constantly, no doubt

I'm a bit torn on it, one side says put Fulton out there for 2016 mobility issues be damned, at least we know he can grade roads vs the run and isnt going to get dozed back into Smith in pass pro very often

The other side says Reid is playing the long game and is willing to scheme around his weaknesses for the sake of line continuity, "if Ehinger is going to be my 2017 LG, he might as well play this year and get the bumps/bruises outta the way"

Even in light of his problems, I do like the idea of starting the same 5 in camp and carrying it right on through into the season... but if Ehinger truly isnt ready and is getting beat like a drum, at least we know Fulton can step right in no problem

LOL. Yep. One of the few times that a starter went on IR and the team was better off for it. Man was he awful. Pretty sure that everyone here was thrilled when he went on IR.
