Certainly frustrating to think that arrowhead might not be at its best. Bad enough all the Steeler fans will be there.

I'm not a weather expert.

But in my experiences, which (surprisingly) in Georgia has been more than you'd think. I've noticed it can be 32 and not form ice on the roads, due to warmer surface temps. Especially considering it's been 68 or something the last couple of days there. That ground is still warm. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this ends up being a cold rain.

Totally agree that the ground temp reduces ice on the roads.

Unfortunately the temp dropped drastically after being 60 and hasn't been much over 20. That will be a three/four day trend heading into Sunday.

Its eerily similar to the worst ice storm KC has seen in my lifetime, 2002 had an odd warm stretch before blanketing the city with ice that tore down power lines and streets were littered with tree limbs.

Still hoping this is all paranoia though.

By all accounts the wind should be minimal, which should really help. That won't make any difference if you're trying to drive in it though.

Chiefs home playoff game. KC in epicenter of the biggest storm in the country at the moment. Sure.

At this point I have no idea what the weather is going to be like here in NJ this weekend and can give an hour by hour of KC for the entire weekend.

All you guys be safe.

Through Monday PM?

...it's supposed to be 56 on Monday.

Mr_Tomahawk 01-12-2017 09:25 PM

Fox 4's Mike Thompson just said the system is slowing down, moving the most intense part of the storm to south-central Kansas rather than KC. His updated model is coming in now and will have a better update around 10:30.

Lezak on FB live doesn't get why the NWS is calling it Jupiter. Also he feels it starts Saturday night with the heavier ice Sunday AM. He still isn't freaking out.

Simply Red 01-12-2017 09:35 PM

maybe all of this is simply Tyreek Hill putting on his cleats!

Simply Red 01-12-2017 09:36 PM

it'd be funny if there were a major shift and it was like 70 degrees and calm.
