I doubt there's any common way of handling it. In the case of the Aurora movie theater, I believe they ended up gutting the place and rearranging the theaters so that there's not "a theater" where it happened, but technically the space is being used again as normal.

Why was everyone staying out in the open? That seems astoundingly dumb.

I heard someone talk about getting out and a woman's voice telling them to stay down. Were security people telling them to stay in place? Screw that. I'd be running for cover.

So they just stayed outside the door of the hotel room because they didn't hear shots? How does that make sense? He's killed a bunch of people and could start again at any moment.

Cops breach doors all the time without knowing for sure what's waiting for them on the other side of the door. Blow that door off the hinges and throw some damn stun grenades in there.

cnn mentioned he tried to get a suite for another music festival the week before but couldn't get the suite he requested because it was booked already
