I think it should be UK, Cuse, UNC, and the winner of this B10 game. There's a possibility that KU could end up as the last #1, but I don't think it's likely nor do I think they really deserve it.

But the fact that MU and KU have pretty much owned them all year makes me feel they are suspect. You can bet everyone is watching how MU and KU handled Baylor and will game plan accordingly.

Baylor didn't back down this weekend, which might have been the most surprising part of the tournament... I was watching hockey while they played Missouri yesterday, but from what I saw, they kept MU within striking distance for most of the game and got it close several times. Hard to say if they'll stay motivated when they're playing some random 6 seed in the 2nd round that comes out and punches them in the mouth, but yeah, I still wouldn't bet on them to make it very far.

I think KU fans have just as much reason to be excited. They're just as good as anybody not named Kentucky and have played great over the last few months. Many, for whatever reason, though, are looking at the Baylor loss as if its a harbinger of things to come rather than the single, lesser game that it was.

I would not bet on Baylor with a ten foot pool. Way too inconsistent. They could pound a lot of teams, and they could just as easily not show up and lose to a #14 seed in the first round.

KU and MU likely both to get #2's

Yeah, and I wouldn't be surprised if one goes to St. Louis or neither do... if they made the loser of the Big 10 game the top #2, they would go to St. Louis. Since they tied for the regular season and are playing in the championship game, as opposed to KU winning the regular season by 2 games and MU winning the tourney, I don't think it's out of the question.

If St. Louis means being in Kentucky's region, I'll pass on that "opportunity."

KC_Connection 03-11-2012 02:44 PM

Baylor's beaten every inferior team they've played this year except for KSU at home, so I would be a bit surprised if they lost early. It's when they play big games that they fail and get rattled (outside of Friday).

Yeah, it always happens... "if they keep playing like this"... I'm pretty 'meh' about the whole thing just because I'm not surprised at anything, and I know KU can lose in Omaha or in New Orleans (not my first rodeo)... so, I'm not going to act like KU deserves a higher seed than MU or whoever else, or get my hopes up outside of the 2 hours each day they play.

About 1200 fans already at Mizzou Arena for the selection show. People are still rolling in with about 45 minutes to go.

Less than 30 minutes away....

Michigan State wins the Big 10....according to Lunardi, they will be #1 out west. Hopefully Lunardi is right and Mizzou gets the #2 in the midwest.

I'd take it.

Has Missouri ever been a #1 seed?

I hope MSU is the #1 in the Midwest and we are the #2.

#1 in the West in 94. Undefeated in the Big 8 regular season that year. Made the elite eight.
