What do Mizzou fans think of the matchups in the west?

I'm slightly concerned with the 2nd round against Florida (assuming they win...and assuming Mizzou wins....). Other than that I'm really liking our chances.

Yes?

WTF are you talking about?

He said moral of story is schedule more non-con teams and lose to them to get a higher seed, which is what the committee has basically implied.

Mizzou #3 in the Coaches Poll, with one #1 vote. Interesting that the coaches have us ranked so high. Didn't they look at SOS?

The coaches and AP poll are week to week... nothing to do with overall SoS/resume/etc.

Would love another shot at KU...or any one of the committe darlings

I would love for MU to get another shot at KU. Would have to come in the NC.

CP would explode.

I agree and I think if I was a Mizzou fan I would be happy with where the chips fell.

I would love to see a Mizzou/MSU matchup down the road. I like how Mizzou plays, especially the guards. I haven't gotten to watch them much this year though, so don't know a ton about them.

So MU would have lost more game if they had a tougher non con? Thems the breaks.

I think proving you can play with the best is better than scrimmaging against Kennesaw State. Would you not agree that you can learn more from a team by watching KU/Kentucky than KU/Towson?

Messier 03-11-2012 05:26 PM

I thought it was an not so subtle shot at KUs non con.

Agree. And Denmon - and every major analyst - is mocking it.

Whatever. I love it. This team clearly thrives off disrespect.

Meh, I believe KU still beat twice as many tourney teams in non-con than MU, despite losing to Duke and Kentucky (and that includes Cal for MU).

Of course, but in Mizzou's case we have clearly already proved we can play with the best by splitting with ku, beating Baylor three times, destroying Notre Dame, etc.

Greg Anthony makes a great point that SOS should be used as a crutch more for deciding which teams get in the tournament than used for seeding top teams from power conferences.

Mizzou has beaten as many top 25 and 50 teams as any other top seed, so clearly we can play with the best.

O.city 03-11-2012 05:32 PM

No one has really said this, but I kind of like being a 2 seed. Yeah you play lower seeds than the 1 but you have less pressure and a good percentage of the time, that 3 seed gets upset.

Its all a matchups thing. We will just wait and see what happens. IMO, there isn't much difference in a 1 and a 2 seed. Both MU and KU had great years and are considered two of the top 8 teams in the country.

My dental school class is made up of alot of MU KU guys. The room begins to split every year when that game gets closer. I'd venture to say shit would go down if that happened.

Interesting that the selection committee actually does research and had meth-u at #8, as opposed to the coaches that have a million other things on their minds.

But hey, we get to settle it on the court, as opposed to some other sports.

Guess it depends on which rankings you're looking at... I look at Sagarin, since it lays out the 'vs Top 25' and 'vs Top 50' (in other words, for convenience, and not because I think it's THE ranking), and according to that one, other top teams had 7-8 wins vs the top 25, while MU had 4.

I'd be interested in knowing the record of the top 8 vs tournament teams.
