Let's imagine a hypothetical scenario:
Prior to the draft, both Hootie and Hamas like the same player. Let's call him Jimmy Pickle. Both of them like this player so much that they want the Chiefs to draft him with a top 5 overall pick. When the Chiefs' pick is announced, a different player is picked. Both are disappointed and think that we missed out on a golden opportunity at an elite player. However, the player continues to slide down the board. As time goes by, every single team passes on him. Most pass on him twice. A couple of teams, including the Chiefs, pass on him three times. Eventually, the player is drafted a full round and a half later than Hootie and Hamas thought he should have been.
How do they react?
Hootie: Every single GM passed on this guy. They must know something I don't. I checked out the guy we drafted instead, and he's pretty good. I'm cool with the pick.
Hamas: Every single GM passed on this guy. They must not know what I know. I will express rage against this decision at every opportunity while actively rooting for the player that I wanted in order to feel vindicated. F my life, and F everyone else's life.
