I think we're setting up to land Cowher. Am I super stoked about that? Nah. But whatever. He let Whisenhunt get pretty creative that Super Bowl year with that Randle El reverse pass to Ward. He wasn't a Marty towards the end of his run, and I think Big Ben made him realize you're only going to win in this league with a QB.

Cowher with final say + Geno = whatever, don't care about Pioli

I'd still rather have no Pioli and a Kyle Shanahan with Geno. But I'm not going to be like you and just complain about EVERY SINGLE MOVE every single time.

Because, and you have this right because we've had nothing to cheer for since Vermeil and even those days were letdowns, at the end of they day...I rather have a little optimism and homerism than just pure hatred and negativity.

Great post.

I can thank Pioli for one thing - I just don't care that much anymore. Maybe I can actually enjoy football again...

Yup.

The Patriots personnel machine improved substantially after Pioli left.

Pioli is terrible at everything. He knows absolutely nothing about how to acquire talent. He is a garbage human being and a pox on this franchise.

Clark is gutless **** that won't pull the trigger on an obvious failure. He should go somewhere and fist himself.

There is no capacity whereby Scott Pioli is an asset to this or any other organization.

Pioli is an asset to new England. The pats draft success and failure is more correlated with the college scouting director, not the personnel guy. As well as when bellichick made the decision to change scheme which happened after pioli left. Pioli can run one hell of a scouting operation, but his success was being a fetch boy to get bellichick exactly what he wanted. He has to be told what to do, he isn't smart enough like dimitroff was to do things his own way.

Source in K.C. says Scott Pioli is determined to prove he can weather the storm and thinks he will remain GM when all said, done. #chiefs

Pioli is watching his Rome burn.

No it isn't. Let's not be ridiculous. The browns were improving immensely then fell apart when modell sold out the team in bellichicks final year. And he has adapted his scheme from Erhardt Perkins to a spread concept to accommodate Brady, is the only parcells disciple to get rid of two gap and change to a 4-3, and he is by far the most involved and successful as any head coach probably in history at influencing personnel and football operations.

Bellichick isn't overrated. What's overrated is when his staff tries to implement his model elsewhere.

but yeah...I don't necessarily disagree

I guess if I'm going to use my "Peyton Manning is worth 12 wins by himself" argument when I bash Dungy I could do the same thing with Brady...

but THEN AGAIN...Bellichick did win 11 games with Matt Cassel...

I would take Belichick as a coach, to be sure. But whatever is said about the guy and his supposed coaching genius, I will forever be convinced that Brady is as much responsible for making Belichick what BB is considered to be as much as BB made Brady. They are Knox and Bradshaw, only better.

I hear Pioli has custodial potential.

We all know hunt cares about money. If that's true, it's hard to imagine hunt will just throw money away and just get rid of pioli. It's possible hunt is listening to pioli beg for his job. It's also possible pioli is desperately trying to pitch new ideas, hunt isn't listening, and pioli will eventually have to decide whether to swallow his pride and accept a lackey role or either resign or negotiate the buyout down.

It's nerve wracking because it could go either way. But it's wrong to say there isn't a good scenario. It sucks if hunt is stalling to save money on the buyout but can understand if so.

well shit .... bye bye ... turnaround comin' .....

Goldmember 12-31-2012 11:37 AM

Did the SOC movement backfire and make Clark try to prove that he was right? Maybe he can't admit his mistake in hiring Pioli and wants to prove that he was right by hiring the next HC himself.
