I think Mizzou will draw FLA, Marquette then Michigan St, which is within the realm of possibility to make it out. Probably the best chance they've got. Kansas State loses to Syracuse in their 2nd game, Iowa State gets by UConn, then gets whacked by Kentucky. Baylor gets whacked by Duke. I don't think Texas gets by Cincy in the first game. Thoughts?

Baylor can beat Duke...they're better when they're at their best. I also wouldn't be surprised to see MSU lose to Memphis...they're playing really well right now, an incredibly tough #8 seed.

If KU actually makes it to St. Louis against UNC, that would be great.

Way more worried about the three jackers in the next game than Detroit. That's where your upset may come with KU this year.

I actually have Baylor losing to UK in the elite 8. Let's not forget of Baylor's 7 losses, 5 were to MU and KU. They are a very good team, just struggled against two conference teams that both ended up with #2 seeds.

Yeah, from some of the stats/information you've posted, it looks like it... a couple of years ago they were on upset alert against North Dakota State and then Dayton, so not really concerned about any predictions. The grind it out games and teams that rely on the 3 are the most worrisome.

I might take Baylor to lose in the first round. What was their biggest non-con win? At BYU?

Go for it. I still have them losing to UK in the Elite 8.

As an aside, If you believe marijuana and meth belong in the same discussion you're naive and/or slow-witted.

I don't know. Baylor has a ton of depth. I'm gonna have them in the Elite 8. Duke is their 2 seed. Duke FFS.

Looks like South Dakota State can score, yet they lost to Nebraska... I'd probably cut my losses and have them lose to UNLV, so it doesn't hurt so much if they do end up winning a couple of games.

NDSU was damn good. They had a couple of seniors that were great (and they both, unsurprisingly, took a lot of 3s). Detroit isn't on that level. They certainly aren't pushovers, but they should be beat if KU plays at an average level for them.

KU has way more talent than either St. Mary's or Purdue, but they both play a very similar style to VCU last year (and are probably better overall teams than VCU). That's the worrisome game for me.

He's a difficult cover, though. I don't know that anybody on KU can defend him. They've also got two other guys that hit 43% from 3.

KC_Connection 03-11-2012 07:30 PM

Florida would be an interesting matchup for MU. They shoot more 3s than just about anybody in the country, are very efficient offensively, and play little defense at all. That could be an awesome game to watch.

mnchiefsguy 03-11-2012 07:32 PM

Interesting.....if Mizzou is truly the last #2 seed, then why isn't Mizzou in the South with the #1 overall seed Kentucky? There is no conference conflicts (Baylor could easily by a 3 somewhere else), and there is no location issues. Seems fishy to me. General consensus was that Duke was the weakest #2 seed (even KCC has been dissing on Duke for awhile), and they got the draw of the weakest #2. KU got to stay closer to home than OSU, and OSU got the tougher draw with Syracuse. What the committee has said and what is on paper does not seem to mesh.

In any event, I was disappointed at first, as I thought Mizzou's best chance would be through St. Louis. However, I like the region Mizzou is in, and I think if they play their best basketball, they can make a serious final four run.

mnchiefsguy 03-11-2012 07:39 PM

Okay, enough about Detroit...anyone know anything about Norfolk?
