He's being responsible with the ball. Not getting hurried. And guess what he does when pressure DOES come. He escapes it.

He's got the most natural pocket presence of any QB I've seen coming out of the draft in a long time. Luck included. He might be the only QB that rivals Luck in that category.

It shows how ****ing stupid you are that you think Geno Smith will fail in the NFL because he doesn't know when the pass rush is going to get him. There are other reasons to criticize Geno Smith, but you took one of his best qualities and made it out to be a shortcoming of his.

WTF do you call Wilson? Barkley? Your boy Glennon? ****, if Geno Smith doesn't know any better, then the rest of those guys are going to Matt Cassel the **** out of their careers.

Cam Newton was not responsible on that play. Being responsible is throwing the ball away and living to fight another day when the play is dead instead of trying to evade an elite pass rusher and taking a 5 yard loss.

Glennon is not "my boy". I think he could rise though.

When did I say Geno would fail? I think he's a good prospect, but he definitely has shit to work through.

And dear God he is not better than Luck in the pocket. Now you're just being a blatant Geno homer with that comment.

Chiefnj2 12-10-2012 01:29 PM

The Geno homers are unreal. Now Smith has more pocket presence than Luck?

I have a question about Geno. In the WV offense there are a bunch of plays where the ball carrier runs an end-around type of route right in front of the QB, and it is quick-pitched to the RB. It's practically a hand-off, but not quite. I'm guessing those all count as completed forward passes, correct? If correct, has there been any analysis of what this does to his numbers?

(By the way, regardless of the answer I am still in the Geno Smith fan club and want him taken by KC #1 overall.)

RealSNR 12-10-2012 02:03 PM

JFC. I said he rivals Luck in his pocket presence. You guys are REALLY underrating Geno's pocket presence just because you think Luck is the be all end all of ALL QBS PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE!!!!11111ONE. Luck is once in a generation in terms of an overall QB. He does EVERYTHING. But there will be QBs who rival him in different categories, yet come up short in others.

Luck is great because he has the ability to make any throw in any form of pressure. Even while he's going to the ground. Geno is a much more patient thrower than Luck.

You're latching onto a myth you think it's not even conceivable that Geno's pocket presence is great. That aspect of his game is STELLAR; it's unlike anything the draft has seen in 10 years outside of Andrew Luck.

Can we end this myth that just because I say Geno is as good as Luck in certain categories it means I'm going full-bore and saying he's a better prospect. Learn to ****ing read.

I'm looking at you, Chiefnj. You have this bad habit of taking things I say out of context.

Those count as forward passes, yes. I think there have been 4 or 5 of those this season? And I think most of them were near the goal line, but there was one I recall that sprung for a lot thanks to Tavon Austin's insane skills.

The thing is you could take those away and the stats would decrease (since they're big plays) but they would still look good. But that's what everybody wants to do with Geno Smith. They want to take away the Baylor game, those long plays, the ones where he forced the throw into double coverage but completed it anyway, etc.

Glad to hear. Outside of highlights I didn't watch much of WV until their last couple of games and felt like I saw it a fair amount. Even then though I wasn't really focused, so could have just been luck of the draw on which plays I payed attention. I'd been drooling over the completion PCT and so it made me wonder.

If he's offering real money, I'd love some of that action.

By all means, please draft Geno Smith number one overall.
