There is no conference conflicts (Baylor could easily by a 3 somewhere else), and there is no location issues. Seems fishy to me. General consensus was that Duke was the weakest #2 seed (even KCC has been dissing on Duke for awhile), and they got the draw of the weakest #2. KU got to stay closer to home than OSU, and OSU got the tougher draw with Syracuse. What the committee has said and what is on paper does not seem to mesh.

In any event, I was disappointed at first, as I thought Mizzou's best chance would be through St. Louis. However, I like the region Mizzou is in, and I think if they play their best basketball, they can make a serious final four run.

I don't know. They're #8 overall, but they get to be in the worst #1's regional, avoid UK, and have a virtual bye in Norfolk. Seems pretty fortunate to me.

KU was #5 overall, so Midwest makes sense for them.

Okay, enough about Detroit...anyone know anything about Norfolk?

They're really bad. They probably should be in one of the play-in games (2nd worst team in the tournament by KenPom), not a 15. It seems they played and almost beat Marquette somehow, so the committee rewarded them for that. It will be a blowout.

It's not always perfect... there's a lot to consider, so the S curve isn't set in stone. I've seen oddities before where it doesn't match up perfectly. With UNC and MSU, it seemed like they didn't think either deserved the 3rd #1, so they treated them both like 4th #1s and shipped them. KU was the 1st #2, so they got regional preference.

Okay...that makes sense...but if Mizzou was the last #2, they should have been matched up with Kentucky no matter what. If we take what the committee says and compare it to what they did, it is more than odd...none of it really matches.

Not that matters anyway. The brackets are set, let March Madness begin!

I like our bracket other than Florida. That one scares me.

From what I can gather...Florida plays no defense whatsoever. On paper they look scary, but I think Mizzou could cause enough turnovers and play enough defense to take them out.

I think Mizzou can keep up with any team in the nation when it comes to scoring.

They keep regions in mind though, so it's not perfect... it's obvious why they would want Duke in the south with Kentucky, and MU couldn't have gone to the East since OSU wasn't going to be in MSU's region. I had a couple of the shows on earlier, and I do remember them saying something about keeping teams close to home... and that's always part of it. They tend ship the 4th #1 and then reward the top #2 with region (as a consolation for not being a 1 seed), and try to keep others close to home. Since it was Midwest/East heavy this year, it was obviously hard to do.

Florida plays Virginia in the first round. I know UVA has been struggling lately, but other than that, don't know much about them. How are they on defense? Maybe they could spring the upset on Florida.

From the looks of it, first round should be very winnable. Second round does not look horrible for Mizzou either. I think if Haith has these guys ready to play, and they come out focused, they will make it out of the first weekend.

Virginia is damn good, too. They could easily beat Florida. Gotta win tough games, though. Thats the way it goes.

Sounds like the first round game should be cakewalk, so hopefully Mizzou can get up early and cruise, that will keep them fresh for the second round, and allow Denmon and English to get a little extra rest to help with their issues.

Hopefully. Virginia versus Florida should be a good game.

Sounds like we play Friday which is good for Denmon's ankle. The opening line is Mizzou -21. I would be all over Mizzou, but I could see Haith pulling the starters early.

Still think we cover 21 at halftime.

Hope you are right. The extra day off is a gift as well. Hopefully it helps. Friday cannot get here fast enough though!
