Of course it is. I was jealous of Nebraska. We kind of dumb lucked our way into an even better situation. Some people just like to pretend that Mizzou owes something to the conference.

O.city 03-11-2012 09:29 PM

I thought it was shitty of MU to leave, for my own selfish purposes, but from a business perspective, **** yeah they made the right decision.

I don't want to see this rivalry die. I'd love them to keep playing but even then it wouldn't be the same.

Although if every year were like this year, I don't think I could handle it. lol.

I like you. Don't want you take this the wrong way or anything but we pretty much know every single perspective of yours or answer to a question is going to be very middle of the road and diplomatic.

Break out of your shell bro. Offend someone.

Thanks man. I try.

This is the MU thread. I don't wanna come in here and start cracking skulls.

Don't get me wrong, as a KU fan, it's tough for me. But I'm not gonna put on the Jayhawk glasses and go all true fan.

What do you guys think of that potential matchup with Marquette. I think they could give you guys some problems. They play alot like MU. Guard oriented team. Should be a good game.

Although if you guys play like you did ths weekend, gonna be tough to beat.

Marquette is a very good team. I think both will make the S16, but I have not decided who I think is going to win that game.

If their guards can shoot it well, it could be a close game.

I'd like to see you guys matchup with Murray State.

Missouri would destroy Murray St. I think Murray St. is going out in round 1, though.

Pretty much. You've never claimed not to care about Mizzou that I've seen, and I've never claimed not to care about KU.

Before this season, I pulled for Kansas whenever they weren't playing Mizzou. Their fans just became such ridiculous pussies when Mizzou did exactly what any school would have done that I lost all respect for the Jayhawks.

We will sincerely miss your respect and support.

MU is rolling to the Final Four. I don't see any team that will give them a real hang-up before then.

KC_Connection 03-11-2012 10:41 PM

Nate Silver's (from the NYT political blog 538 and formerly from Baseball Prospectus) statistical odds for the FF are out:

Final 4 advancement odds, Midwest: UNC 37%, Kansas 35%, Michigan 5%, Georgetown 4%, Purdue 4%.

Final 4 advancement odds, East: Ohio St. 41%, Syracuse 28%, Wisconsin 10%, Vanderbilt 7%, Florida St. 5%

Final 4 advancement odds, West: Missouri 26%, Mich. St. 20%, New Mexico 11%, Marquette 11%, Memphis 10%, Louisville 8%

Final 4 advancement odds, South region: Kentucky 57%, Duke 17%, Baylor 9%, Indiana 5%, Wichita St. 5%

He has Missouri as the favorite in the West. But it's a deep region.

Talk shit. That's part of what makes sports/rivalries enjoyable. Sitting on the fence isn't fun. Nothing wrong with being respectful, but sometimes you have to get your venom on.

Interesting quote by Jason King on his blog:

Quote:

I’ve got to think that a more than a handful of people choked on their cheese puffs when committee chair Jeff Hathaway said during a live interview that Missouri was the fourth No. 2 seed behind Kansas, Duke and Ohio State. Seriously, at what point does the “eyeball factor” come into play? The Tigers are 30-4 and completely dominated a strong Baylor team in the championship game of the Big 12 tournament Saturday. Sure, Missouri’s non-conference strength of schedule was poor. But to imply Frank Haith’s squad would’ve been a No. 3 seed had it lost on Saturday is concerning.

KC_Connection 03-11-2012 11:22 PM

It comes into play after the stats do, clearly.

I guess. Seems to me that Mizzou is the bottom 2 seed only based on where the games are being played. They have the worst of the #1 seeds, they got the weakest #15, and the teams in the bottom half of their bracket do not seem as good. Duke seems more like the bottom #2 seed...the only edge Duke gets is playing in Atlanta. They get the best #1 seed in Kentucky, the best #3 in Baylor, and, according to you..the best #15 seed in years.

Location wise...Mizzou is the bottom #2. Opponent wise, I think the Tigers got a favorable draw, and hope they play their best ball of the year to take advantage of it.

So if Mizzou had lost to Baylor, you would have put them at a #3? That seems a bit ridiculous, given their top five ranking and all.

Another interesting blog post, this time from Myron Medcalf...

http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation

Quote:

The Big 12 will send two squads to New Orleans: Among the 2-seeds, Missouri has the easiest path to New Orleans. The Tigers’ speed and perimeter versatility will pose matchup problems for every team in the West Region, including No. 1 seed Michigan State. Kansas losing in the first round to Detroit? Nah. The Jayhawks will beat every team in the Midwest, including the Tar Heels if they face them in the Elite Eight.
