Gonna try and get out tomorrow if the wind stays down.
New purchase for this year, Scotty Camron California Monterey, wish it would get here! http://www.titleist.com.au/teamtitle..._5F00_Hero.jpg |
Goal is to try and get into single digits this year. Got down to around 9 a couple years ago, but lack of playing got me up to around a 12 since then.

Tiger playing well today.
Bump. BTW smitty's , that Scotty is bad ass. |
Judging by his last few results around the world, Tiger Woods seems to be back in form. That's good for golf.
|
Tiger 4 back heading to Sunday.
does he have enough in the tank. |

I'm contemplating doing this to my Newport: http://www.golftoimpress.com/wp-cont...1002260006.jpg |
How the hell can you get that OTW. That is crazy awesome looking.

I have the same putter, but stainless. Just finished a DIY paintfill on it - all black, including the sightline. If I get a chance I'll post some pics. |
thats a slick looking putter man.
Have you been playing much this year? |

Slowly getting myself back up to speed. Going to Birmingham in March to play Farmlinks and a couple of RTJ courses. Hoping to have a good year. |
Thats great man. Good luck with the back, thats a tough one.
I'm heading to STL this spring break to play Bellerive. Looking forward to it. Got to play SOuthwind in Memphis last summer it was a blast. |
Heading to Phoenix in two weeks to play the Scottsdale TPC course. I'm way too frugal for such an outing if I had to pay for it myself but one of the vendors we deal with at work is taking me and another guy. Should be fun, we're playing the same 18 that the PGA played last week. I have a feeling I might lose a lot of golf balls in that round.
|
You will have a blast thats a great course.
|
|
Tiger is shitting down his leg again.
His swing is so awful. He gets to moving around so much and gets so narrow to himself. It's amazing that he can ever hit the ball solid. Leaving Butch Harmon was a mistake. |
64. Unreal.
|
Amazing stat thrown out by Faldo today...Phil would've beat Tigger 7&5 today if it was match play.
What a round by Phil. |
Great round by Phil-wonderful to see and even better watching balding Tiger have to shake his hand! LOL

The Raven at South Mountain is a nice course in South Phoenix, Eagle Mountain out by Fountain Hills is nice, and Octotillo down near Chandler is a hidden little gem-it's like a Florida lake course in the desert, ton's of water and small houseboats! |

DO IT get the black teflon coating? As soon as you spot me $80. LMAO |
Yeah I meant send it off and get it done, looks awesome. Casino Cash work for ya?

Got out and chased the little white ball around for the first time this year. I'm not gonna say I hit it particularly well, but I had a good time. I've come to grips with the fact that I'm never gonna really be worth a damn at the game.

I decided to go back up (the local course is three blocks from my house) and play another nine since I wasn't doing anything and the weather was as nice as it is.
On the 4th hole I holed one out from 152 for Eagle. It's a case of "blind squirrel finds nut" as I still only managed to shoot 44, but I'll take it. I almost decided to finish the back as well since I've never broke 90 (have hit exactly 90 probably 10-15 times, but NEVER 89) my legs were starting to get a tad sore after running 4 miles, walking 18 this morning and then 9 this afternoon. |
On the never breaking 90 thing, not that it matters much, but I could have a handful of times if I played the way some of the guys I've played with do (foot wedges, cleaning and placing the ball in the fairway, taking gimme putts or mulligans, not counting OOB strokes).
I know I suck at the game, but I figure the only way to really accomplish anything is to play by rules and see what happens. |

God damnit, Phil was tied for the lead at -8, next thing I know I look at the TV and he's on 16 one back at -6.
WTF did I miss? |
Putting like me....IE a pair of three putts
|
Damn, Mickelson is choking in the playoff, but the other guys aren't doing so well either.
|
After playing Riviera myself, that hole is one of the hardest shortest holes i've ever played.
Where that pin is cut today, it looks like you have about a kitchen table back there to hit in on. |
Hell of a putt by Haas to win it.
|
Hass likely won it, each guy has a chance to hole it out to tie.
|
"That's alright Phil!"
I hate golf spectators. |
Damn! Bradley almost tied it.
Good job Haas. |
Great putt for the win, ****ing awesome putt by Phil on 18, and how good was that last playoff hole.....crazy!

Gonna try to get out on the course tomorrow to make sure, but looking like I'll be gaming a R11 with a Miyazaki C. Kua 39s. Just installed RIP Beta 70s in my fairway woods, and the ball flight is SO much better. Gonna be a good year, as long as my back holds up. |
Damn!
Tiger just stuck it on 18. 6 feet for eagle to shoot 62. |
Tiger is playing like a mad man today.
|
Made it.
62, 1 back from McIlroy. |
That round was the old Tiger. Hope like hell this gets him back on track. The PGA tour is better with him like that.
|
McIlory would really need to choke.
|
Need Rory to put a couple in the water or something.
|
Well, he hit into the bunker. There is always a chance that he ****s up the next shot.
|
Maybe he thins it into the water.
I wanna see a playoff. |
Quote:
I want a playoff too though. |
Perfect.
|
Well that should do it.
|
McDowell is making some long putts to stay close, but Tiger is stroking it right now.
|
That probably sealed it. Tiger makes 15 footer to save par, up 4 with 3 to play.
|
Just bought a new set of irons. I decided I didn't like the ones I bought a couple years ago.
Found a set of Nike Slingshot Irons (3-9, PW, AW, SW) for $215 and decided that I didn't have a lot better to waste money on. Hope these will hit the damn thing straight (It's gotta be the clubs fault) |
Ouch. Got out for the first time since early December. Was a bit rusty. I am sore as ****.
|
Fixin to get to play the National (not for the first time) here in KC. Got to play Loch Lloyd last week.
Its good to be in KC. |
Thinking about making a move to one of these badboys. The only thing is I want to go with a different shaft but to do so they want $175.00 more. I can buy the stock shaft or the shaft I want for the same money though. Talk about getting the shaft!

Mass and volume are completely different.

So I made the plunge to high tech golf equipment and FedEx just delivered my driver. It's been on the truck all day here in town so I guess they saved me for last. I would have been at the course hours ago if only.........
I went with one of the stocks shafts to avoid being robbed. The Miyazaki CKua 59 Xstiff. Feels good. Quote:

The trial run went really well. I've only been out twice this year before today but I felt pretty good standing over the ball so I was able to swing freely. I hit several good drives with it and I'm convinced that I'll hit this club farther then my 15 year old steel shafted T-Zoid.
They built this club for me. When I was a kid I'd jump the fence and play to the clubhouse and when I walked in the pro shop I'd walk over and eye the persimmon headed Hogans. To me that was the pinnacle of golf equipment. Once I got a set of those I knew there was nothing better. Then they invented metal woods. Metal Woods? Really? It took me a long time to switch from wood to metal. I only did so because I realized that I wouldn't be able to ever replace my wood headed clubs when they were worn out. So I went with the T-Zoid with a metal shaft. The smallest head I could find on a metal shaft. It was a good set of fairway woods and the driver served me well. But alas 15 years later it was time to change. It only took them 20 years but they finally made a titanium headed graphite shafted driver that looks and feels like a persimmon headed club. The new Cleveland Classic is awsome. Persimmon look with the classic pear shaped head. It was flying a little higher then I'd like today but once I figure out how high I need to tee the ball I'll be able to work that out. It's a pretty cool thing to gain 15 yards off the tee at fifty years of age. I bet I gain more like 20 after get my stuff together. I pumped about it. The bad news is that now I'm going to have to spend another three to four hundred dollars upgrading my fairway metal. |
I guess the golf thing is dead at this point in the round but I don't care. Here's my lesson for the day.
Stay loose and swing the club. Play golf like any sport. Play it with you heart and your eyes. Trust your eyes and take dead aim. Take dead aim and then hit that shot with all your heart. |

I know it would suck for some of ya'll, but I couldn't be happier about it. I guess I could be happier actually, if I could play 12 over (a par 5 that I hit my driver OOB and ended up taking a 9 on). I also missed 2 putts inside of 2 feet and three putted two others, but I can't complain much....next goal is to do it again and then the next goal will be to break 85. |

I was at the course again today and I was working with the new Cleveland driver. I hit a drive on #7 at Deer Lake GC here in town that I just figured out was 370 yards long. It was down wind and a down hill a little but that's still huge. I think this new driver is at least 20 yards longer then my old club. Maybe even longer if I play alot and really get it going. Wow. |
Just bought a set of new irons - Ping G20's (Graphite, Stiff Shaft). Can't wait to play these babies. Anyone here have any experience with them?
|
Not the pings, but why go with the stiff shaft? I'm looking around for irons, not sure what shaft to get if I do get some. I was thinking regular but I don't really know the difference.
I have been a very casual golfer for a long time. I'm consistently in the high 90's or low 100's. I'm thinking about the Adams A7OS irons and a new Taylor Made RBZ driver. My current clubs are 10 year old knockoff Callaways and an old Taylor Made driver that was a good club 10 years ago. I'm hoping that an upgrade in technology will get me consistently to the low 90's where I can work on a couple things and start breaking 90. Hopefully, or my game has hit a plateau and I will have pretty much wasted $700. Posted via Mobile Device |

The more clubhead speed one generates the stiffer shaft he needs. If you can't hit the ball 250 yards you should probably go with the regular shaft. If you're longer than that maybe the stiff. With graphite IMO you can go a little stiffer then with steel.
|
Buying a set of Callaway X-Tour irons tomorrow for $200...think I'm getting a good deal, clubs are in immaculate shape.
Has anyone played or hit these? Pros and cons? |
Forgot to add, also picking up a Callaway FT-9 i-Mix driver as well...if anyone has played it, impressions are welcome lol.
|
My drive has gone to shit in the last few rounds and I don't know what I've done. Everything else is OK, but the drive (even with a 3 wood) has a HUGE fade/slice right now (think, aim to the left side of the fairway, it starts there and about 150 yards out takes a right turn and if I'm lucky it stays on the extreme right side, but more often ends up 20-30 feet into the rough). Any suggestions?
I did break 90 again today, but only due to good putting and a couple of lucky shots (draining a 25 footer for birdie and chipped one in as well). Of course I got unlucky a couple of times as well. I hit one left of the OOB stake by about 2 feet that I could have easily played, but didn't. |
Not a great day on the links. Being reminded that golf was created by the same bunch that thought bagpipes made good music.
|
Tiger playing well early, now 2 back of the lead and in the fairway on the par 5 7th.
|
GET IN THE HOLE
|
3 in a row and 4 out of 5, within one now.
|
Tiger is putting a rape on this front nine.
