Holy shit, shot of the year.

OnTheWarpath15 06-03-2012 03:07 PM

"Anything within 6 feet is outstanding."

How about in the ****ing jar?

tk13 06-03-2012 03:07 PM

And the fist pump. That'll be on SportsCenter 35 times tonight.

-King- 06-03-2012 03:08 PM

Tiger Tiger Woods y'all.

kstater 06-03-2012 03:09 PM

Now it's time for Rory's meltdown.

WilliamTheIrish 06-03-2012 03:13 PM

God damn... I tuned in just in time to see that shot. WOW!

kstater 06-03-2012 03:17 PM

Rory incredibly lucky he caught some lip on that or it's in the rough.

-King- 06-03-2012 03:17 PM

That would have bested Tiger's shot.

kstater 06-03-2012 03:31 PM

Tiger at worst just got into a playoff. 8 feet for birdie on 18.

kstater 06-03-2012 03:31 PM

And Rory just blew any chance.

WilliamTheIrish 06-03-2012 03:31 PM

Tiger hits a 9 iron stiff from 178. Holy ****.

O.city 06-03-2012 03:33 PM

I don't think that was a normal 9 iron. It was a pretty good bit down wind and he drew it in there.

kstater 06-03-2012 03:37 PM

Birdies three of the last four holes.

OnTheWarpath15 06-03-2012 03:39 PM

Shot a 67 with two bogies.

Very impressive.

People don't realize how great a round that is. On Sunday none the less.

Playing the back tees, playing the ball down, putting everything out. Makes a huge difference.

MoFo just won the Memorial to pass Jack in total career wins. I have to admit, as a person, he's probably an asshole. As a golfer, pretty damned close to the GOAT.

I don't give a shit what kind of person he is as long as I get to watch shots like I did on the 16th.

No shit. Save the preachin' for another thread. Tiger won this. Sabs crashed. Some will say Sabbatini lost it. Horse shit. Tiger EARNED this win.

tk13 06-16-2012 04:22 PM

Leaders are out on the course for round 3 of the US Open. It took one hole for Woods, Furyk and Toms to all bogey. No one is under par now.

ShowtimeSBMVP 06-16-2012 08:26 PM

Love Tiger shooting a plus 5 on the day and plus 4 overall.

KCTitus 06-16-2012 08:47 PM

Good to see all the 'ger chatter after a 75...a thing to behold. Wonder if the cameraman injury after 18 will mean a WD.

tk13 06-17-2012 03:51 PM

Tiger has fallen apart to start the final round. Dropped to +8 in the first three holes. Mickelson's way out of it but they just showed him hitting one of the worst chips I've ever seen him hit.

milkman 06-17-2012 07:31 PM

Anyone still watching?

The way these final golfers are playing the back 9, they could well play Michael Thompson into a win.

tk13 06-17-2012 07:38 PM

I really bet Thompson really wishes he hasn't missed the birdie putt on 17 now, he'd be sitting in great shape.

tk13 06-17-2012 07:40 PM

I say that as Furyk hits one of the worst shots I've seen him hit... a fat hooking duck into the trees.

That's one of the worst shots I've ever seen from any pro.

milkman 06-17-2012 07:45 PM

And Simpson is going to struggle to make par on 18.

CaliforniaChief 06-17-2012 07:47 PM

Where does Olympic rate in terms of toughest US Open courses of all time?

I know he's regretting it now.

Shag 06-17-2012 08:21 PM

Furyk fell apart down the stretch - too bad. Would love to see McDowell birdie 18 here...

SPchief 06-17-2012 08:21 PM

Furyk is ****ed. Is the playoff in the US a 18 hole?

SPchief 06-17-2012 08:27 PM

Wow, he just straight mis hit it

tk13 06-17-2012 08:28 PM

Feel bad for Furyk... led for most of the last three days and it barely slipped away.

I think he and McDowell hurt themselves playing as slowly as they did ll day, expecially on the back 9.

How many times did they set up to take a shot, or a putt, only to back away and look at it again?

Seemed like every shot.

Infidel Goat 06-17-2012 08:34 PM

Good for Webb! Go Deacs!

KC_Connection 06-17-2012 08:47 PM

That was one of the biggest US Open choke jobs I've ever seen. What a duck hook on 16, then he played 17 and 18 horribly. Sad for Furyk as this might be one of his last real opportunities to get a second major.

McDowell didn't choke at the end, but he made too many mistakes before the end to win.

Simpson was leaking oil down the stretch, too, but he made the big chip and putt when he had to. Congrats to him.

Furyk has that same pre-shot routine on every shot. He lines up. Backs away. Swings again. Lines up. Waggles. Lines up. Swings.

Same on the putts. He's done that for 20 years.

KC_Connection 06-17-2012 08:53 PM

It reminded me a bit of the 2006 Open when Mickelson, Furyk, and Montgomerie choked down the stretch to give Ogilvy the win by a shot. The winning score was also over par in that one.

And Padraig Harrington. He was in the rough on 17 and swung at the ball so hard he lifted his front foot off the ground like a he was in the batters box. duffed the shot and killed his chance.

True, I remember that. He won three of them after that, so at least he learned from the experience and it didn't hurt his legacy.

I was commenting on the fact that both of them were doing it.

I think that it really slowed the play down and hurt both golfers.

Hell yea, that had to be one of the slowest and most boring rounds to watch.

It was so anti-climatic and you just knew Furyk was running out of gas. He was not close to any pins and scrambled all day just to stay even.

I really thought Michael Thompson was going to sneak in but it was not to be.

Watching all the pros struggle for all four days put them on the level of all us hackers and amatuers. :D

Braincase 06-18-2012 07:13 AM

13-year-old daughter of mine surprised me this past weekend. Said she was having fun playing golf with her older sister, and she now wants to go out for golf instead of volleyball. Only problem is that her old clubs were too short for her. Ordered her some clubs from Gigagolf.com, sized to fit her 5'10" frame. I have a feeling she'll be just fine, and it helps to have a spine like a whip.

kstater 07-20-2012 06:40 AM

Outside of a few open qualifiers, Mickelson hovering around worst player in the tournament.

eazyb81 07-20-2012 06:41 AM

Brandt Snedeker wreckin sh#t.

Buck 07-21-2012 10:09 AM

Tiger looks like he'll be in the final pairing at this point with the way Snedeker is playing.

Buck 07-21-2012 10:13 AM

**** man that was so close to another birdie.

I hope Adam Scott comes back, I want Tiger to win this ****ing thing.

Buck 07-21-2012 11:07 AM

Forgot that Adam Scott's caddy was Steve Williams. Hopefully he and Tiger are in the final pairing.

Considering Stevie's drunk comments that he had to call Tiger and apologize for, I'd bet on Tiger.

Yeah. Too bad. But that said, I'd love to see Eldrick go out and set a new course record there tomorrow.

kstater 07-22-2012 07:40 AM

Insane bunker save from Tiger there. Scott backs up one on the first.

milkman 07-22-2012 07:44 AM

Tiger, McDowell and Snedeker need to start making a push to really put any pressure on Scott to make this interesting.

Old Dog 07-22-2012 08:03 AM

Watching this tournament has me even more excited for this coming week. My main fantasy football league is having our draft in Las Vegas this weekend and a few of us are going to play Royal Links on Thursday. http://www.royallinksgolfclub.com/index.cfm
I reckon I'm gonna probably lose a few (or more) balls, but I'm looking forward to it anyway.

the Talking Can 07-22-2012 08:32 AM

tiger with the dumb play...that had no chance

Old Dog 07-22-2012 08:36 AM

I was amazed he tried it. The second one almost didn't make it either. I can't imagine trying the second shot.

the Talking Can 07-22-2012 08:37 AM

tiger meltdown...he'll start limping soon

Yep. Fried egg against the wall in that bunker? The analysts were right... should have taken an unplayable lie.

the Talking Can 07-22-2012 08:42 AM

everyone is falling apart right now

Old Dog 07-22-2012 08:46 AM

McDowell played the only thing he really could there.

Old Dog 07-22-2012 09:03 AM

good call by the official IMO (RE Scott). That happened a good minute plus after the practice swings

Old Dog 07-22-2012 09:50 AM

Impressive shot by McDowell on 11. Even I haven't hit many THAT far left.

Old Dog 07-22-2012 09:51 AM

I'm not sure why you even bother looking for that one. Go back, hit another and take the penalty for Pete's sake.

kstater 07-22-2012 09:54 AM

Yup. Tiger now 4 back and Scott is on the clock. Another birdie and the pressure will be cranked.

milkman 07-22-2012 10:08 AM

Tiger is done.

Think I heard just a few minutes ago, Andy North the commentator who said Woods could have taken an unplayable lie, later said Woods actually could not have done that. He was obligated to play it from the pot bunker.

Old Dog 07-22-2012 10:16 AM

The commentators have had a few of those moments today. They also made one when talking about the ball moving after Scott had taken a practice swing without addressing it.
The funny part about that one was they sounded very confident that a penatly would be assesed and then AFTER the ruling made a sarcastic comment about "fans being experts on Twitter" though they had blown the call as well

Yeah, but two club lengths back, and it could have saved him two strokes in the long run. Hindsight, 20/20.

WilliamTheIrish 07-22-2012 10:20 AM

OD, I think that was Andy North as well. I was kind of surprised he was checking his twitter account and readily admitting it on the air.

Are you sure, BC? I could have sworn North said he had to play it from the spot.

milkman 07-22-2012 10:29 AM

Unless Adam Scott falls apart completely now, this Open is all but done.

stonedstooge 07-22-2012 10:33 AM

First time I have seen Tiger play the course instead of his game. Doesn't look like it will work for him

Old Dog 07-22-2012 10:40 AM

It worked for him the first three days. It looks to me like he just fell apart after the mess on #6. In reality if you take out that hole he's +1 on the day (through 15)

he was obligated to remain in the bunker, but could have dropped back straight from the flag (i thought)...or something, the explanation was confusing

but i meant he should have just chipped out backwards or to the side...going forward was suicide

stonedstooge 07-22-2012 10:41 AM

The Big Easy needs a couple of birdies

tk13 07-22-2012 10:54 AM

Scott just choked a three putt to make this slightly interesting now. Els can get within 1 with a birdie at 18.

doomy3 07-22-2012 10:59 AM

Clutch put by Els

BWillie 07-22-2012 11:00 AM

Poor Els. He has so many 2nd place finishes in majors but at least this time it wont be to Tiger Woods. And the next time I see a poll that asks who do you pick tiger woods or the field im going to lose it.its the field every single time and its not even close. Its just a dumb poll. Stop it it espn
