610 reporting that Melky to SF for LHP Jonathan Sanchez and LHP Ryan Verdugo.
|
If they can get Sanchez to quit walking so many people, he is an absolute stud.
|
I love Melky. But that's the definition of buying low and selling high. Nice work Dayton.
|
dude was an ace in the making, had a monster 2010 before a so-so 2011...
http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/stats/...nathan-sanchez either way, good trade considering the Royals got him for a rent-a-player (Cabrera) who had, perhaps, a flash in the pan sort of year last year. |

Is the Giants GM in a ****ing coma or something and a janitor is filling in? |
Good move. Guess this means Cain comes up to play CF.

Cabrera's BABIP (.332) was a big part of his success in 2011. His value is not going to get higher than it is right now. 1) ?? 2) Jonathan Sanchez 3) Luke Hochevar 4) Felipe Paulino 5) Bruce Chen One more move... one more move. |
Damn, while the Giants are giving players away, John Mozeliak should call them up.
Lincecum for Allen Craig sounds about right after the Cabrera deal. Huge get for you guys. Congrats. |
What contract is Sanchez under? All I can find is that he signed a 1 yr, 4.8 million deal for 2011. Looks like his is a UFA for 2012.
I'm assuming trade and sign to LTD? |
Wow, what a deal by Dayton. Great day to be a Royals fan.

He's had great luck with talent in the first round (Lincecum, Posey, Cain), which covers for some of that. But his MLB-level deals are routinely awful. This is the guy who trade Liriano, Joe Nathan and another piece for AJ Pierzynski. |
Is Verdugo any good?
Sanchez has not been great recently. |
I think the biggest think Melky did is give people some prespective on how the Yankees do things. I willing to bet there was some shit that he was like "Thats something a Yankee would never do"
|
I love this trade, if Sanchez can get his control issues sorted out he can be a legit 2 and possibly a #1 type guy.
