I think the Cardinals won their first World Series back in the 20s.

Of course, they actually invited a team from the American League to play against them.

History clearly shows that the road to the Final Four is much easier as a 1 seed than a 2 seed. I guarantee that Self wanted that 1 seed.

Which would you prefer:

A - #1 seed, play 2 games in Omaha (in front of a heavy MU crowd), play 2 games in Phoenix
B - #2 seed, play 2 games in Omaha (in front of a heavy MU crowd), play 2 games in St. Louis (in front of a heavy MU crowd)

Is anyone watching the Marquette game? Can you give updates on how they're looking with respect to the possible match up against Mizzou?

Marquette shooting over 62% in the first 5 minutes...3-4 from 3-pt range.

Again - it has been proven that 1 seeds have an easier road to the Final Four, so why would I willingly want my team to have lower odds?

Of course a 1 seed is better. Geographic proximity is fun for fans but generally overrated.

Marquette looked like they were going to run away with it, but BYU mounting a comeback. 22-14. Lots of fast paced action. Hope it wears their legs down

They started out crazy good. Have slowed down a bit since then.

They will be a very formidable opponent. I would love to see BYU steal this one.

Murray State won easily in their game, so if BYU can't come back, maybe at least they can wear Marquette by forcing overtime (or two, or three). Murray State should be good and fresh for the second round game (or third round, or whatever they are calling it now with all of those play-in games).

I'm not saying you are wrong - however, wouldn't you say a home court advantage plays nearly as big a role in getting wins?

eazyb81 03-15-2012 01:24 PM

BYU looks like absolute garbage.

A true home court advantage? Absolutely. But I think you're crazy if you think the advantage of playing, say, UNC in St. Louis is anywhere close to playing them in Lawrence. I would still rather have the 1 seed and get to play less talented teams until the regional final.

Love that picture of Kansas after getting their number 1 yanked from them. Players and fans really thought they would be rewarded for losing but I guess the selection committee saw it differently

KU gets a #1 seed all the time. Might as well spread it around a bit in our down years.

I was going to post something else, but then noticed 2 seeds actually have a better record against 3s and 7s than 10s... here's to better competition? :toast:
