Question:

IYO, what has Pioli done to give you hope he knocks this offseason out of the park?

Well dude...

I called it right away...I knew none of you would like Pioli. Dude, that Patriots fans themselves, until a couple of years ago, ALWAYS hated EVERY single draft...that's just how it was...the Patriots drafted the players they thought fit their system regardless of whether it was a reach or not...

Hey...looking back on it...Tyson Jackson looks like a god awful pick...Matt Cassel looks less than iffy at best...Alex Magee looks like a waste...

You're right, right now...it doesn't look so great.

But like I said, I'm willing to give that draft class and Matt Cassel another year...as well as Pioli and Haley...before I get critical.

I still wouldn't mind seeing the Chiefs trade up to take Clausen or Bradford if they fall past 16th or so...they have the pieces and at least we could hedge our bets on Cassel...drafting a QB towards the middle-end of the 1st is like paying for a decent QB2 anyways...and best case scenario is we end up with something similar to the Brees/Rivers situation in San Diego.

I don't feel like getting into that right now...I said all along I wasn't going to let this year impact any thoughts I'd have on Pioli...if you and Hamas want to berate that stance by me and others then so be it.

And FWIW, personally, I would take "one of the worst" as anyone from 16-32.

So if he can come up with 15 QB's he'd rather have than Romo, so be it.

what an awful attempt at a spin. Hamas is still your daddy

YOU called it right away? That we wouldn't like Pioli?

Jesus, dude. There are mountains of posts and thread where we came right out and SAID he wasn't our first choice before he was ever hired.

Hell, I had few expectations to begin with, but he didn't even meet those.

And again, what has Pioli done that gives any impression he can meet your expectations?

Anyone? Feel free. Can anyone answer that question?

well i, for one, am glad that he has taken his time and seen for himself if the players we had could fit in his system. i'm also glad that he didnt go out and break the bank on high (over) priced free agents BEFORE seeing first if we had someone that could play whatever role they would have played in our system. thats the key to me. we kept tank around until it was pretty obvious that he wasnt fitting then we got something for him.

hey man be glad pioli didnt take your advice on thigpen. he got a 5th rounder out of the guy YOU would have cut

And he cut players that are performing damn well for other teams.

Your point?

C'mon, Jason. Even the casual fan knew what this team had - next to nothing.

There's no excuse for not upgrading the talent. None.

I think we need to turn the page on many of these debates.

The first year for the new regime did NOT go well. There's simply no getting around that. There were failures in the draft, FA, and talent evaluation. Game management was often a travesty.

That said, Pioli and Haley are going to be around in 2010. I'm hopeful they'll have learned from their mistakes, and I'm also ready to start evaluating new decisions from here on out.

This. I know if they make the same stupid decisions this yr, I'm done. I won't trust single thing they do. Most of us are skeptical of them anyway. I know I am now. I was drinking the Pioli Kool-aid last yr. After a season of fail, they need to show us something.

How would he know how some of these guys would fit in the NEW system? had they played extensively in it before?

who was cut that is performing "well" for another team? which player"s" plural.

pollard? pollard couldnt tackle for shit for THIS TEAM never did and IMO never would have. why? **** i dont know. but the guy missed how many tackles in the preseason for us? how many against the seahawks alone? look at the gif'ed up thread and see how well pollard played for us.

So you ignore acquiring talent because the leftovers MIGHT be serviceable in the new scheme?

Are you kidding me?

ROFL so you would bitch if he came in and cut everyone and some of them went on to be serviceable players elsewhere, and you will bitch when he keeps some and they end up not working out.

so what would have made YOU happy? to bring in half a roster of upgrades while not cutting anyone?

and what did we lose this year? we came out right about where YOU predicted us to be. why does it matter that we didnt get there just how you would have liked it

Who said anything about coming in and whacking everyone?

I'm saying it's no excuse to ignore bringing in a pass rushing OLB via the draft or FA just because you want to see if Hali can do it.

****. That.

You acquire talent first and foremost. If Hali ends up being serviceable, even better. You can mow move him to the other side, which is a gaping ****ing hole, or at worst have quality depth at a position you previously had nothing at.

Record wise, sure.

But talent wise, this team is no better today than it was when Pioli took over.

Wait, scratch that, he acquired a solid PK, and a WR3.

Carry on.
