ChiefsPlanet - Football **** The Official Free Agency Thread ****

The Chiefs are following the Steelers moto on building a team. Thats the blueprint they've set from themselves.

Build through the draft. Draft well and develop your own. Make sure you hire the right scouts, and select the right players in the draft that aren't the most talented, but intelligent enough to learn, accept/fit into the role of the teams plans. Thats what its about.

And, also ensure that they have the right coaching staff in place essential for player development. that is something Pioli has already done with the hiring of Haley, Crennel, Zorn, etc....I don't think you are going to see major moves because if anything, this team believes in maintaining chemistry and cohesiveness amongst the players, coaches. Sometimes its not always good to have a roster shuffle or make to many changes because the moment you bring in a whole bunch of new guys that can set you back. It disrupts team chemistry because all these "new" guys have to learn everything. And thats a process itself.

If anything, its good to bring in maybe 2 or 3 players. But FA is used to fill in any small voids or gaps that are existent within the team as of now. That is how the Chiefs and Steelers are dong it imo.

Let's not take this too far now. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Powe wasn't selected for his intelligence, football or otherwise.

It's been just 6 hours. The only team in the AFCE that's signed any free agents that weren't its own is the Bills. The only team in the AFCW that's signed any free agents that weren't its own is the Chargers. That's the reality of the situation as far as I know it. Are you seeing some amazing flurry of activity that I'm not?

I'm assuming that most are taking the same approach I am ---- there are still players out there that can make us better, including the positions that are most obviously weak. I'm cautiously optimistic that we're talking to those guys and will bring a few in. If some of these players go off the board and we stand pat, I'll be disappointed.

Exactly my point. My guess is that they view him as little more than a football commodity, a big ass piece of ****ing athletic meat, though I'd put money on the literal meat in a wonderlic competition.

I know this won't be popular, but I am looking forward to seeing Toribio and Powe at NT. I would hope the would be hungry to be getting a chance, and I am a big believer in Haley's philosophy of "You have to coach up the guys you got".

If the other guys available were Casey Hampton in his prime type of players, I would be more excited, but I just don't see that out there, Franklin included. If he comes here fine, but I would rather have a guy that is hungry to play, than a guy maybe just chasing a paycheck.

Want to bring in a guy like Matt Light? Fine. Albert to LG? And then Lilja goes where? Who is the RT? Albert?

If you're going to talk shit, fine, but at least have some semblance of a clue. I clearly don't think that Albert is problem #1 on the line, but I'm not running around singing his praises either. I mentioned earlier today that I'd like to see him at a heavier (edited) weight, but he's far from the focus of any of my posts.
