Upgrade him. Be glad to do it. The first round of the draft isn't the place, though.

Want to bring in a guy like Matt Light? Fine. Albert to LG? And then Lilja goes where? Who is the RT? Albert?

If you're going to talk shit, fine, but at least have some semblance of a clue. I clearly don't think that Albert is problem #1 on the line, but I'm not running around singing his praises either. I mentioned earlier today that I'd like to see him at a heavier (edited) weight, but he's far from the focus of any of my posts.

ok... Replace Albert with Dorsey, Carr, or DJ.

Rams deal with Sims-Walker is 1 year for 3.7 mil.

They do.

But they mean dick without talent at crucial positions.

You of all people should know. Your team is/was successful because they have talent at the most important positions on the field.

You never win 3 Lombardi Trophies without guys like Brady, Washington, Seymour, Vilfork, McGinist, etc.

They were all "right 53" material.

They also all had a ****-ton of talent.

WHAT?

Free agency just started 6 hours ago.

How have you made all these deals?

(BTW, Devaney has done a really good job thus far, you should be happy.)

I know you know how to read, but you seem to miss this every time it's posted.

No one - at least no one sensible - is asking for Pioli to go out and grab 10 Tier A FA's.

But we're $40M under the cap. We have 17 roster spots available. We're in the bottom quarter in UDFA signings. We've done nothing to address the same holes we've had on this roster since Pioli took over. And in the past 3 days, we've managed to create more holes than we had on Monday.

I don't think filling glaring holes with B/C Tier FA's is too much to ask of an accomplished GM like Pioli.

You confuse my realizing your point is an overreaction with my missing it. It doesn't matter what's happened so far. You seem to be missing the "free agency is only 6 hours old" part. The Chiefs have reportedly found a way to fix their need at WR3, have 'lost' a player that most were saying wasn't really getting the job done at NT, and have lost a "meh" player at DE.

I don't see that as any reason for Chiefs fans to be in a panic. Hell, the Patriots just cut Ty Warren. That's a far bigger "hole" than anything the Chiefs have created, yet I'm not screaming about some failure to have a replacement already into camp.

Well for one, they are about to cut Bell as it's been reported by PFT. They also signed Al Harris to a one year deal. These guys could be cut at the end of the preseason or make the roster. Low risk-high reward signings.

Haley's the man to do it.

With 90-man rosters, that's exactly what you should be doing.

That's exactly what we should be doing as well.

Build through the draft. Draft well and develop your own. Make sure you hire the right scouts, and select the right players in the draft that aren't the most talented, but intelligent enough to learn, accept/fit into the role of the teams plans. Thats what its about.

And, also ensure that they have the right coaching staff in place essential for player development. that is something Pioli has already done with the hiring of Haley, Crennel, Zorn, etc....I don't think you are going to see major moves because if anything, this team believes in maintaining chemistry and cohesiveness amongst the players, coaches. Sometimes its not always good to have a roster shuffle or make to many changes because the moment you bring in a whole bunch of new guys that can set you back. It disrupts team chemistry because all these "new" guys have to learn everything. And thats a process itself.

If anything, its good to bring in maybe 2 or 3 players. But FA is used to fill in any small voids or gaps that are existent within the team as of now. That is how the Chiefs and Steelers are doing it imo.

This isn't true.

Is there anyone aside from Warren that either Pioli or Haley have connections to? The Sims-Walker signing was a bit out of character because I don't believe anyone on the Rams staff has been with the Jags. Dahl signing makes a lot of sense since Devaney was there the same time Dahl was. Harris was in Philly while Spags was the DB coach, etc.

Direckshun 07-29-2011 09:33 PM

I'm all for the disciplined approach as much as anybody else.

But the fact we've signed one veteran FA is downright silly.

Just thought I should weigh in at this point.

Well, sure. You aren't winning in the NFL with 53 players from MIT on your roster. Deeznutz' dismissal of the ideas of a winning culture and a good locker room is idiotic, though.

"Just win baby" isn't doing all that well of late.
