Awesome win for Gary. Seems like a really nice guy. Very talented and this type of victory was long overdue.

Everyone who yells all this stupid shit deserves a punch in the face and tossed out. Most are drunk assholes wanting to hear their voice on TV.

What a bunch of immature douchebags: NOT alphas! :shake:

It's gotten pretty obnoxious.

The younger son and I just finished resizing and re-gripping our first set of clubs. Just for fun we got into the math behind "proper club lengths", and we found out I've been playing with clubs that were too short, so we figured we'd give it a go. It was kind of cool. I doubt it'll make me any better, but it prepped us for shortening his a touch.

Proper club fitting may be the single most underused and underrated item when you go from a complete starter hack to playing a little more serious.

Buying a set of $1,000 Titleist irons have a set length for each club. How can they have proper setup for one guy at 6' 3" or 6' 4" versus a shorter guy of 5' 8" or 5' 9" ?

That's as much as a 6" difference in club length from one player to another. Doesn't work.

Well, next time I get out, I'll let you know if it made any difference at all. All I know is the new grips feel really good, so if I still suck, at least I can't blame the feel of the grips.

How did you resize for length a reshaft? There is an art and science to shafting and trimming. where you trim can affect swingweight, spine and kick point. Grips are easy club length requires some special tools specs from the shaft companies at a given length to reach a certain stiffness and swing weight. I used to fiddle with clubmaking putting together clones. It's been a few years my dad had all the equipment I inherited it. I quit when I began to have to travel so much I didnt have time. It was pretty good spare money once.

These things + 0 science... Each of my clubs needed a little under a 1/2" added (they were almost 1/4" under std, and I needed 1/4 over), but this was just for fun.

BTW, I'm NOT a serious golfer (it's not hockey or diving!!!!), I'm there for the beer, so not even science can ever be certain if this was right. Plus, I went to oversized grips, so that's a lot of change at once. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...45807efa1c.jpg

Interesting I read about these golf shaft extenders about 10 years ago. It was mostly at the time thought to be a good club fitting tool to have incremental step up in lengths from regular. That way after measuring the golfer to try various lengths to see what they struck best. Length of arms and how you address ball plays factors in shaft length. I assume your tall which is a part of fitting but only a part. Arm length and address factor in as equally important. Clubface pattern of ball strike can tell a lot also whether heel or toe strikes. Its harder to fit a occasional golfer who doesn't have repeatable mechanics yet. Topping of missing the golf ball is more mechanics of swing than club length. Most important is if you feel as though your hitting the ball better because a big part of the game is mental. I like oversized grips to it helps my arthritic fingers and just feels better to me. Good luck with the game.

After getting interested in it and reading as much as I could, I found this site made the measuring pretty simple.

Again, my effort was more out of general interest because my son's interested in playing for the school, and being bored. If it messes up my game any more than me being a golf hack has, well I'll just blame God and hitting left-handed as a person who writes with my right hand - yeah, that's at least 2-strokes a hole as a score it...

But you're 100% right, since I am the occasional golfer the most repeatable part of my experience is the beer.

As for the grips, I've not played a round with them yet, but they sure do feel good. But my old ones were at least 7 years old, so I'm sure new gray tape would have been an upgrade... LMAO

What are your opinions of same length shafts... Thought about trying some but was recently fitted for my Pings and don't what to change after spending a lot of dough...
