That's a nice story...except Suggs and Lewis DIDN'T LOSE.

They were beating the pants off the 49ers. They both claimed that the blackout at the SB was faked in order to stage a 49ers comeback. The 49ers lost in the final seconds, but the NFL and their refs did their damndest to get the 49ers back in that game.

Yes, that is what they SPECULATED. Precisely what they speculated. And they had nothing more than that -- speculation.

Power outages have happened at all kinds of venues in all kinds of situations. I remember a STanley Cup back in the 80s (Bruins/Edmonton), but there was no conspiracy there because Edmonton was ridiculous and the Bruins never had a chance.

But let's pause here and turn on our brains for like, half a second. The Super Bowl is a blow out by halftime (like that is somehow rare). But this ONE time, the NFL wants to try to make it more competitive. So they decide to have the refs give some calls to the other team? No. They decide to HAVE A POWER OUTAGE.

First, how does that compute? Who would think "you know how to get those guys back in the game? A nice, long, totally embarassing and and humiliating power outage!!"

"But how do we make this happen Rog?"

"errr....quick, get some electrician to do it. Pay him a million dollars so he never tells anyone, even his boss. And pay the security guards to let him through and pay them a million each too. yeah, yeah!"

"But, umm, it's totally random. It may not help the team come back at all"

"yeah, do it anyway."

What....the....****.

BUT, let's put ALL that aside.

If the NFL is entirely scripted, why would it even have been necessary? Shouldn't the Ravens have known they needed to put on a good show? Why kill power?

BUT let's put THAT aside also.

Plenty of Super Bowls have been blow outs, including the shellacking of the Broncos just a couple years ago. Why no power outage or terrible calls there to make the game competitive? WHY DIDN'T THE SEAHAWKS FOLLOW THE SCRIPT?

Probably because it makes no goddamn sense at all.

Was that the official transcript?

Shit, I wanted the NFL to be a real mano a mano competition too...but it appears to be just a manufactured racket.. orchestrated for profit. Sucks for everyone except them.

Your argument would make waaay more sense if it made any sense at all.

Just think about how many people would have to be in on the fix, and yet nobody with an ounce of actual knowledge has said anything? SUre, a game here and there? I can believe that.

The entire NFL is like the WWE, that's complete nonsense.

But is it really a theory? No, it's fact.

I have to admit it does seem a bit staged looking at the last 15 years.

Patriots win right after 9/11?
Saints win right after Katrina?
Bettis wins a SB in his hometown in his last game?
Ray Lewis wins in his final season after his team sucked ass in the last month of the regular season?
Only 18-0 team losing in dramatic fashion?
Manning getting his final SB while breaking the record for wins in that last game?

It does seem a bit tilted to the best possible story lines to get people watching. I just can't believe it's rigged though. Maybe bc I want to believe in honesty and the Chiefs being able to win.

If other teams had won, you'd have just as compelling story lines, just different ones.

"Giants (or Jets) win the Super Bowl right after 9/11"
"Patriots win 19-0 to complete a perfect season."
"Miami wins Super Bowl right after [pick a hurricane, there's no shortage to choose from]"

As for Ray Lewis, there are a handful of guys who retire every year WITHOUT winning the Super Bowl. What did the NFL owe Ray Lewis that they would give him that prize?

As for Manning winning the SB, why Manning but not a dozen other QBs who limped out of the league? Pretty much EVERY other QB, in fact.

You can spin anything any way you want it.

The Saints didn't win right after katrina.
Tons of players win the Super Bowl in their last game.
If the SB was a tribute to 9/11, would a NY or Washington team win?

Dozen other QB's? Like who?

This is a good point. Like I said before, I don't think it's rigged, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was.

If it was rigged, then you would think we'd win one soon. Andy is one of the best coaches in the league and deserves one. Surely in that scenario they'd hook him up.

Dinny Bossa Nova 02-23-2016 08:46 AM

Wow. Some of you guys must be able to look at the screen and type at the same time. It just amazes me how some people can do that.

It would take me half the morning to hunt and peck some of the posts you guys are making.

Many props.

Why wouldn't the Giants or Jets win the SB after 9/11? Was there a 5th plane I'm not aware of that knocked down buildings in Biston?

The Saints didn't win "right after" Katrina. Not unless you consider 5 years later right after.

There is one of these dumb ****ing threads every year and the same reeruned douchebags spit their nonsense all over ad nauseum. All it does it prove how ****ing dumb they are, but they'll continue to jerk each other off all offseason. The next time one of these jackasses makes a post bitching about Andy Reid's play calling or Bob Sutton's game plan, I hope they choke to death on their own hipocrisy. Bitching about a game you think is rigged is one if the stupidest things on this board.

Marino and Kelly are the big two that come to mind. Never mind going out on top, they never won it all EVER.

Montana going to KC and bringing home a SB win as he rides into the sunset, giving KC its first SB win in 20 years would have been a great story. Instead, the Bills beat the Chiefs and then get killed by the Cowboys in a pretty boring SB.

Brett Favre was very popular, but he never got the bookend SB win did he? In fact, he only won one in his VERY long career.

Who else DIDN'T win the Super Bowl their final season? Let me think. Maybe it's:

Bradshaw
Staubach
Aikman
Unitas
Young
Tarkenton

Then you get into the very good but not elite QBs. Same thing. NO prize for Fouts, Moon, Esiason, Testaverde, etc. ad infinitum.

Basically, EVERYONE other than Elway, and now Manning IF he retires.

These are my favorites that always get trotted out for some reason.

What do the New England Patriots have to do with attacks that took place in NYC, Washington, DC, and a plane crash in Pennsylvania?
You know, all those places actually have teams.

The Saints won "after" Katrina...that is true...5 years later.
