AL.com reports Parker was arrested in March 2016, days before her husband was arrested on the same charges. WTF???

Looks like the hubby made out better but what about jail for him??? That's someone's daughter, not son...

Under that law, she said, he would be guilty of a Class B felony. However, she argues that a 65-year-old "doctor, minister, therapist, or attorney" is not subject to the same criminal liability.

“School employees have been unfairly singled out and are being sent to prison for something that, at most, might cost people their job or their license in any other profession,” she said. “Certainly, anyone who has sexual contact with someone without their consent, or who is under the age of consent, should be criminally punished. But to send someone to prison for a consensual sexual relationship with someone over the age of consent solely because they are a school employee treats school employees differently than everyone else.”

AL.com reports Parker was arrested in March 2016, days before her husband was arrested on the same charges.

Why the actual **** should a teacher have a permanent record and risk jail for having sex with an 18 year old? That same 18 year old's nurse, priest, boss at work, etc. etc could **** them silly, but if his/her TEACHER does it, throw away the key? What kind of logic does that make?

The teacher should be FIRED. That's it. Jail? That's ridiculous.

At that point-we teachers are in a point of trust. We break that trust when these things happen. If it is continued, or allowed by a court case. There are some assholes out there that will expect it. Even at 18 and in school-they should be off limits. Ethics takes over.

After graduation-still wrong. College teacher and student. NO. If a teacher comes on to my kid in college-firing will be the last thing they have to worry about.

The human brain and its ability to make good decisions may not be fully developed by age 25. For some we see it takes longer.

I will never agree to it. But amazed every time I read it.

I had a teacher at Mizzou who was around 28 when I was 20. She was long, tall, built like a Brick Red Campus Building and had mane of silky, straight black hair all the way down to her ass. I would have let her use me like a paper towel and would have been fine with it.

In the case in Conn. she was only a student teacher, who at one time was, but was no longer his teacher. She will walk from this (insert good lawyer she can't afford) with a misdemeanor, be registered (RSO), get probation, and public service. Including her firing from the school coaching job, for cause, on her employment record. Oh yes, probably blackballed in Conn from teaching, just because.

IF anyone Janitor, cafeteria worker, or outside vendor, in a school, authoritarian position or not, is going to have to live with it. In a school
setting, where 95% are under 18 activity such as this cannot be allowed. It should be a crime yet degree of the charges brought is questionable. She should be charged with nothing more severe than a DUI, the loss of teaching certificate (nationwide?), sex registry but not a FELONY.

You don't get to, nor do you want to, be dealing with consensual sex in a high school when minors are in the equation. The issue here is that this is a "State" issue and not a "federal" law, so it's different in every state. If you were to run for public office would this be on your agenda?ROFLROFLROFLROFLROFL

Like the other person, who is a long term teacher, I was married to a teacher, have 3 teachers in the family (2 in high schools) who would love to see you come in front of a school board and even suggest this. Mandatory graduation at 18?

No, the law needs to be adapted but it's understood, you don't even make a joke about being attracted to a student (I'd love to squeeze those melons) or you're defending your teaching certificate. Find me a teachers union who is going to support decriminalizing any sex act with any student. Defending a teacher for remarks yes, Sex with a student...NO.

So what is the schools liability with the Conn teacher? Can the student say he was taken advantage of and sue the school and the state? You bet he can, like I said, he will have a free ride to UCONN...

I know of a couple of instances of this happening and the professor was immediately removed and was not able to get another teaching position. This was put on their record and passed along to all those that inquired.

Social media used for private communications enables it, sure, but there has to be more to it than the number of cases has risen like that. Some of it might be downfall from the over-sexualization of kids/teens in movies and TV. I'm not sure what else is contributing to it. I'm 47 and when I was in high school (and middle school like some of these kids are), I don't remember even being suspicious of anything like this, nor do I remember guys even hinting about fooling around with a teacher.

Fired Airport High administrator had sex with student while at school, officials say

A fired Lexington County high school administrator is charged with sexual battery of a student after turning herself in to Columbia police Saturday morning.

Former Airport High School assistant principal Dawn Diimmler was fired by the Lexington 2 school board Feb. 12.

Diimmler, 44, is accused of having sexual intercourse at the school with a 19-year-old Airport student over whom she had direct supervision, officials said Saturday.

She’s accused of having sex with the student twice at the school during their three-month relationship in 2017, according to city of Cayce spokeswoman Ashley Hunter. Airport High School is located in Cayce.


She’s also accused of having sex with the student outside of school in the Columbia city limits, Columbia police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.

Diimmler was being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Saturday morning. Her bond was set at $30,000.

Diimmler will face charges in both Columbia and Cayce, Hunter said. She was charged by Columbia police Saturday and will be charged by the Cayce Department of Public Safety on Sunday morning, Hunter said.

Columbia attorney Deborah Barbier is representing Diimmler. Reached by The State newspaper Saturday morning, Barbier said she did not have any comments to make on the case at this time.

A Lexington 2 school district spokeswoman said Diimmler’s firing came after an investigation into allegations Diimmler was involved in an “unprofessional relationship with a student.” During that investigation, the district uncovered information that indicated possible criminal activity and notified Cayce police on Jan. 30, officials have said.

School district and law enforcement officials have not commented until now on details about the investigation, including the circumstances of the alleged relationship.

Earlier on Feb. 12, Diimmler and Airport High principal Brad Coleman were placed on administrative leave. During the board’s special meeting that night, board members voted to approve a recommendation from the superintendent to terminate a district assistant principal, who was later identified as Diimmler.

The district has not commented on the reasoning behind Coleman’s administrative leave but said he remains principal of Airport High School.

The State has filed an open-records request with the district for Diimmler’s personnel file.
