The more I think about Oswalt the more I don't like the idea. Good in many ways but too risky with that back. We don't have money to potentially waste on a broken down player with a big contract.

But I'd disagree when people say we don't have the money to spend on Oswalt because of the risk factor. If you're signing him to a two-year deal (with a third-year option), which is what it sounds like the market is for him), the risk is fairly minimal. The Royals payroll is going to be extremely low next year unless they surprise with another high-dollar signing. Same for 2013. Even if Oswalt is signed to a $15 million/year deal, they're still right around $50 million. Which is far below the payroll ceiling that has been established for this team... |
I'd like to get Edwin Jackson as well. Oswalt i wouldn't mind but that back problem bothers me.
Too bad Meche was broke, he'd be real useful about now |
Apologies if repost, interesting stuff, a conversation with Hosmer:

Alex Gordon got 3 10th-place votes (out of 28 ballots) and finished 21st for the AL MVP.

I'm NOT thankful for the new CBA. It seems like its going to really affect the Royals in a bad way.

Kevin Goldstein said that KC's Top 10 aged 25 and under is the best such list he's ever put together. A couple players who didn't crack our top 10 would have been high on almost every other team's top 10 under 25 list.
