Is he ****ing dense? Brett cut and run after a few months. What would possibly possess DM to think that he'd want to do it again when he's got a cush made up front office job ?

It may seem silly, but that's my final straw if this guy has so limited a scope for finding a good or great batting coach. Is he incapable of scouting coaching talent - though Ned may be proof enough as to the answer.

I think it was more of a desperation attempt to pacify the fan base again can create some excitement around the team. Maybe sell a few more tickets if fans get to see George in the old uniform again.

Every radio show in town had some old fart calling in saying that George Brett should be the hitting coach again because back in the 70s blah blah blah.

May as well kick the tires and the worst that can happen is he says no and DM moves on. I doubt he had his feelings hurt.

He did... Brett said no.

Hoz and Moose are utterly detestable players, both in performance and attitude. They were supposed to be our cornerstones but instead they turned into arrogant flops. Worst of both worlds.

We hoped they'd be our Mauer-Morneau. Instead they became our McPherson-Kotchman.

Nothing against George Brett, but the only ex-Royals players worth a shit as coaches were both run out of town because they were either scapegoated (Seitzer) or had the balls to tell the truth (Frank White).

So let's keep flailing at guys, keep blaming others, and do everything except look in the mirror and see a systemic failure of scouting, drafting, development, management, and execution.

At this point, we should leverage the entire farm system for established talent because we already know they'll end up as shitty as Hosmer, Moose, and the rest.

What a joke.

What a joke.

Letting go of Seitzer and keeping Ned Yost was a terrible decision. Just freaking awful. Moore chose wrongly there.

But let's not act like Frank White was some awesome coach (or announcer). If he was a good coach, he would have caught on during his stint in Boston, or landed with another team afterwards.

If he was a good announcer, he'd have work. He was not a good announcer.

And he couldn't handle Brett getting more attention and love than him.

Loved him as a player. He's a giant pain in the ass off the field, though.

Frank White will become a Jackson County Legislator by the end of the year. He'll make a good politician.

CaliforniaChief 06-05-2014 12:27 PM

Point taken, Duncan. However, it still seems to me like White was pushed out for being critical, not because he wasn't a good announcer. Either way, the guy knows baseball. My concern is the flailing nature of it all, just going from guy to guy.

Agree 110% with this.
