Congrats! I'm sure it's been mentioned in this thread already. Did you quit cold turkey?

Yes. Unless you count the Trident gum I still relentlessly chew. Never used any nicotine patches or gum or drugs.

I've tried them all with no luck. I have a theory that the patches and gums keep me addicted to nicotine. I guess I just need to try cold turkey. Congrats again.

It's like any other addiction - once you're ready to quit, you'll be able to kick the habit. I had tried to quit unsuccessfully several times before. This time, I was ready. Other than just a handful of cravings, none of which I ever acted on, I never really had any trouble.

I don't miss cigarettes at all. I do miss cigars - some guy was smoking a really nice cigar at the bus stop last night and I moved downwind just so I could breathe it in. Alas, I'm an all-or-nothing smoker, so cigars are part of the past.

Try Wellbutrin, it’s what helped me quit. You can continue smoking on it and just taper off.

Is it over the counter?

I’ll puff on a cigar once in a while. But I don’t really smoke one, just kind puff on it, and I’m not a fine cigar connoisseur, I just occasionally like a Swisher with my drinkey.

I don’t think so, but I’m not positive.
You could tell your doctor your depressed and ask for Wellbutrin to get your insurance to pay for it, if that’s what your worried about. It’s actually an antidepressant that works very well for quitting also.
Thing I noticed about it was, it didn’t help with my cravings any but I was in a good mood. That was actually a big part of it for me because the few times I tried cold turkey, I turned into an asshole.

Don't lie. The truth is you pictured every cigarette as a little Jayhawk you had to kiss.

I can't do it. I'd puff on it at first. Then I'd start to inhale little by little. And by the end of the day I'd be blowing Marlboro smoke at my computer screen again. And I don't miss that brown film on the monitor.

A man's got to know his limitations. I cannot smoke. I've learned to live with it.

That wouldn't work. I'd enjoy burning them and crushing them out too much.
