Now I will send people shitty neg rep comments, but I absolutely wouldn't say anything in a rep comment that I wouldn't say in the open forum. Almost always, there's a matching post for every shitty rep comment.

In these cases I absolutely agree. Tom, Skip, and other weak minded ****wits who have PM'd me in the past have all had those PM's posted simply so I could mock them. And I'd do it again.

That's different from a PM that's actually concerning advice or something that's not inflammatory. But I think we all know that.

Well, I can't speak for you but I've received thousands of PM's since 2000 and I've never shared the contents with anyone in the forum. I've had a fair share of nasty PM's and I wouldn't share those, either.

Private. Message.

I strongly disagree. I would feel no obligation to keep an UNSOLICITED private message private. If I asked someone to send me a message and I told them I'd keep it private, that would be an entirely different matter.

It's like receiving a product in the mail that you didn't order. You're not obligated to pay for it. You can do whatever you want with it.

Do I then have to think highly of people with a lot of positive reputation and look down on those with less? What other obligations did I unwittingly assume?

Bowser 08-22-2012 06:41 PM

Remember the days when we used to flood Caudle's PM box? Ah, good times.

Canofbier 08-22-2012 06:44 PM

This thread has become incredibly boring. Who gives half a shit about the sanctity of PMs? Someone post something saucy, please.

Ceej 08-22-2012 06:45 PM

I never get hateful PMs.

:(

Bullshit. That is just ****ing bullshit.

I've had people reach out to me over the years or number of personal reasons and I would NEVER be compelled to reveal these people or our conversations.

I've cleared up "Bad Blood" that existed in the forum and became pretty good friends with some people after that.

Private messages are intended to be PRIVATE. If you want to be an asshole and post private messages, be my guest.

You sure won't make many friends that way, nor will you gain an ounce of respect.

Even if someone attacks, threatens, or just general douchebaggery?

I'd never post something that was personal or friendly in nature.

Report it to the mods, what is the point of posting it to all CP?

If you feel obligated to keep unsolicited crap from drunk posters private, good for you. It's not some moral obligation, though.

In this case, CC had been abusing his ability to give infractions and managed to ban hootie's account for no reason. Shortly after hootie was restored, CC was drunk and getting into it with hootie. For some stupid reason, CC decided to send hootie a PM, and hootie threw it right back in his face.

Ceej 08-22-2012 07:05 PM

I got a PM saying I liked Arbys!

That's bullshit slander! Hogwash.

Arbys is ridiculously overpriced!

LMAO

Probably a better idea.
