Crazy to think about them being 26th in local revenue while carrying the 11th or 12th highest payroll. Think that's where it ended up...

That is sick. The Cubs are unreal this year. I'd need to look it up but I think I heard on the radio last week that up to this point in the season they have better stats than the 1927 Yankees...

Should be fun to see how their season plays out against the NL elite..

If we're fortunate enough to get back to a third WS in a row, I wanna play/beat the Cubs. If you think sports fans hate the Royals now for no reason, can you imagine how much they'll hate us for elongating their putrid sucking streak that's been going on since 1908? Nobody in America will be rooting for us except our fans. People would look at the Royals like they're child beaters if they beat the Cubs. Public enemy number one lol.

1) Rematch with Los Gigantes. What better way to make the case as one of the best baseball teams of the decade (if not the last few decades) by going back to back and to do so by denying another mythical, even-year WS championship to San Francisco?

2) Square off against the Dodgers. Small-market homegrown team takes down the Yankees of the NL.

3) Cards. A win against the redbirds this year would the icing on a Sheet cake of shit for St. Louis with the Rams (rightfully, IMHO) return to Los Angeles and the Blues annual 1st round playoff exit. More importantly, it would "even" up the score for the 1985 WS which is constantly decried as bogus in light of Denkinger's botched call in Game Six. Going 2 for 3 in WS appearances would match KC with STL's run from 2006-2013. BFiB-type assholes can still crow about their total of 11 titles and that's fine. As for the non-BFiB set.. well, I can't imagine they wouldn't tip their caps to Moore, Yost et al and have discussions among themselves about whether Mozeliak should adopt some of KC's philosophies. That's a win in and of itself.

4) Nationals from just the perspective of an interesting championship series.

5) Repeat on the Mets just from the New Yorker fan meltdown perspective.

I'm guessing the O's wish they had a guy like that in their rotation. Makes me wonder what would happen if the Royals got rid of Duffman.

Glass is guaranteed to take some decent losses the next 3 years. Cannot be avoided unless he just slashes every arb guy and signs zero FA. At 125M in payroll, he's only got 100M in additional revenue to fund the entire operation. His payroll/revenue ratio is significantly above the MLB avg.

Of course, I was one of the few who argued vs the Cerner boys buying this franchise, because of the 40M or so debt service they'd have to pay out. Looking how thin Glass is operating vs his revenues.......how about taking another 40M off that?

Poor Glass, I hope he doesn't have to cash in any Wal-mart stock to keep the lights on. :deevee:

Nobody made him sign that crappy TV deal-so KC fans can't watch games locally on regular channels anymore.

He has made a fortune on the Royals since he bought them in an increase in team value. I think he will be able to stay off food stamps. :D

Id like to see what he can do in the AL east with those lineups and little league parks.

What's his stats look like at Coors field?

ROFL

When was that? July of 2014?

In fairness, many of us felt the same way.

does any team have a tv deal that is on local regular channels anymore? And increase in team value doesn't help cash flow unless he's borrowing against it...
