The pitching coach.

No, I probably target trading some prospects not named Ventura for a bat.

Ventura is on the table, even, if you can get a young position player back with at least 3 years of control left, who is fairly established.

I think the Royals need Santana to make that playoff push.

Out of curiosity, if the starting pitching looks like this in late July, who from the pen is expendable at the trading deadline and who would be the odd men out?

Starters:
Shields
Santana
Guthrie
Duffy
Paulino/Davis/Mendoza

I would bet there is a good possibility one or more of our starters gets injured in some capacity... solving that "problem" for us.

Right now we have the option to work them back in at a pace best suited for their rehab. Hope it stays that way

It'll be incredible. There is nothing in sports that compares to the every day, constant buzz of a pennant race. Nothing.

Can't help but think Salvy has something to do with how the pitching staff's going. When he was gone was when they didn't perform as well

This run has been very encouraging for fans, and I'm thrilled that we're not buried in June. That said, **** DM MUST find another bat.

Runs are still so few and far between that I have a real hard time seeing this winning streak as sustainable. At some point, one would think that the pitching will not remain this excellent. When it normalizes a bit, with this offense...yeah.

Must. Find. Bat.

And I'm about to purchase a plane ticket to Omaha for Moose, much like Whitlock offered to do for Bono and Elliot back in the day.

Should the Royals take a flier? why not

Eric Young Jr. designated for assignment

Rockies designated OF Eric Young Jr. for assignment.
Young is batting just .242/.290/.352 this season, and the Rockies haven't been happy about his defense in the outfield. Still, he batted .316/.377/.448 last year, has tons of speed and can also play second base, so he'll surely draw interest on waivers.

Career away from Coors: .211/.290/.286

A career OBP above his career SLG?

Those are Getzian numbers if I've ever seen them.

Assuming Duffy and Paulino are pitching at equivalent levels or thereabouts?

I send Duffy down to Omaha and save some service time. Paulino to the rotation. Mendoza to the rotation. Davis back to the pen. JC Gutierrez DFefffingA.

Eric Young fits one of Dayton Moore's favorite baseball tropes: the LFBG OF.

(that's lightning-fast black guy).

Wouldn't surprise me to see them take a flyer on him, and what's the harm?

I'd rather have him at 2b
