It's quite easy moron.

I've followed the draft since the end of the football season...I've read all the mocks, lurked every thread, went to other boards and read things about players...and then on draft day I get to find out all sorts of awesome things about the next generation of NFL players!

So I have all of these prospects in my mind and of course, I wanted the Chiefs to take Clausen at #36 because I think he's going to be a real nice QB...

But when we didn't, I then took a DEEP breath, and said..."well, before I turn the TV off in disgust, I'm going to look into this Dexter McCluster fella and see WHY we took him over a guy like Clausen or a guy like Benn..."

and then I looked at his wiki page...googled his draft tracker...read some comments over at an Ole Miss board...watched some of his highlights...

and then realized...

wow...the Chiefs really envision this guy as their Wes Welker! If you notice, I point that out right away...people were freaking out because they thought we took another Jamaal Charles and it didn't make any sense...

I bet you they had Dexter McCluster as their #1 rated WR on their board...that's a pretty big need for us...and we all know it.

In my eyes, the Chiefs landed two pro bowl caliber players with their first two picks...for some reason you think Sergio Kindle would have been a better pick than McCluster and I'm sorry...Kindle has a much higher bust probability than McCluster...that tape doesn't lie...teams were scared to death of McCluster and he was CLEARLY a top tier player in the SEC...

I'm thrilled we have him.

A lot of words to admit you have no backbone.

"I hate the pick."

Mike Mayock says it's a great pick.

Do "research."

Change mind.

Amazing how quickly people change their minds.

"THIS PICK SUCKS."

"Oh, Mike Mayock likes it?"

"Uh, well, I LOVE THIS PICK! THE BLACK WES WELKER!"

It took me 5 seconds to like this pick.....

but damn, we are going to have some playmakers...

I have a feeling he Chiefs have McCluster pegged as a potentially better version of Wes Welker...40 times aren't everything...he has crazy agility and acceleration.

And this was it...

and then between our next two picks I went on a rapid McCluster search fest and realized everyone LOVES this kid and he's going to be a great NFL player...

I'm sorry bro...Clausen fell to #48 for a reason...

and I HIGHLY doubt Weis has ZERO pull whatsoever...obviously the Chiefs didn't think he was an upgrade to Matt Cassel...and 30 other teams besides the Chiefs agreed that he wasn't a franchise QB...

Whatever.

I submitted one post after I heard the words Dexter McCluster.

"I'm disgusted."

and then the next post was...

Well I guess they envision him as our Wes Welker.

and then I did research on the kid and realized it was actually a pretty good pick.

I realize (unlike you) that amateur draft projections don't mean SHIT...

after the first 5 or 6 picks no one really knows who the **** is getting taken and where...the 1st round you have a fighters chance but after that NO ONE KNOWS anything...

Hamas Jenkins took Bruce Campbell over Anthony Davis.

So...

How often do you REALLY want a player in the 2nd-7th rounds and see your team take that guy? It hardly ever happens.

We didn't expect McCluster...it was a shock at the time...and then after you actually think about it and do a little research...it makes perfect sense because he's a dynamic playmaker that will be our slot receiver and make PLAYS for years to come.

Seriously...

what do you not get?

The Chiefs liked McCluster better than Benn...everyone would have been ok with Benn being the selection...but we weren't looking for a #1 WR...we were looking for a slot guy that opens things up for Bowe...and makes things easier on Cassel.

McCluster instantly makes us a better team.

Is it that hard for you to understand?

Is it?

Maybe. Hope so.

But remember when we thought our new coaching staff "instantly" made us better?

The Chiefs were a better team record wise.

dude...we had Bobby Wade and Mark Bradley playing significant roles on our team last year for a while...and Lance Long...and then a mediocre Chris Chambers comes along and looks like a top tier WR compared to those shitheads...

Bowe/Chambers/McCluster is a respectable trio of WR's...and McCluster in space? Oh my. Him and Charles on the field at the same time? Wow.

I see why they made this pick...

at no point will you find me saying this about the picks last year, either...I was not excited about the picks last year one bit...

The picks they made this year?

Money.

If he can be a productive WR, this will be a solid pick. No one, for example, would have complained much if the team had selected Tate.

So McCluster is a surprise. Fine. Pioli just needs to be right, and the player must produce.

Now, pick 2B? That selection is mind-numbing. Words cannot describe my hatred for this pick.

Round 3, back on solid ground.

Better record. Worse team.

Having an OC will go a long way toward helping this, I believe.

The same reason a FS is a top five pick is the same reason Areneas is a second round pick.....figure it out!

I don't think last years team was worse they could actually run the ball and return kicks to the 30 yardline. Plus last years team would never blow a 3 touchdown lead in 2minutes. Not that it matters anyway they sucked. I think theyll improve next year though the defense will still be in the higher 20's

Oh, so both are going to be full-time, dynamic, game-changing players who play almost all reps on the defensive side of the ball?

Or are two of our first three picks primarily return men?

Did I...figure it out?!!!

tyler360 04-25-2010 09:13 PM

I am going to take a wait and see approach to this draft. Would i have done things different?

Yes. But the players taken could really turn out to be good and I hope it happens.

Grading the draft after 1 day is ridiculous.
