That's like asking me to root for either the Raiders or Broncos if they were playing each other. I always root for the giant sinkhole in that case.

The only pleasure I get from watching tomorrow's game is knowing that the redemption both teams seek is due to the pain we inflicted on them.

MY obsession with HIM?
I responded to a story he provided and I didn't even make a personal comment to or about him. WTF is your problem, dipshit?

He is literally responding to the piece (thus the quote). Are you really this dull?

In other news, how badly did we miss Cueto and Zo? Obv great players that outsized this market, we weren't going to keep them but....Cueto finished 4th in pitching fWAR at 5.5, Zo at 4.1. We got almost nothing from 2B and our rotation, so you can say a net loss of -8 wins. 89 gets a playoff spot.

Also Moose losing 3 fWAR from last year to Cuthbert a replacement player mattered, that's basically all you need to explain the gap from 2015. Those 3, we make the playoffs.

Hosmer's defense definitely took a step back this year. I'm done talking about Fangraphs 1B metrics, though, so I'll leave that alone. Baseball Ref's figures judge Hosmer much less harshly on baserunning than Fangraphs, which is weird. I thought they lined up pretty well on those, in the past.

Cueto was a replacement level player for KC in 2015, whose best performances were in the playoffs. They survive without that if a few other guys - Volquez, most notably, but Chris Young, too - don't fall completely off the table.

Zobrist definitely was missed. His offensive prowess would have made a big difference for KC.

Soria's WAR in '16 was 0.5. How isn't that a negative number?

Hosmer's whole every-other-year thing is really tiresome. He's had almost 6 full years to develop into a consistent player, not a young struggling guy. Beltran had a bad 2nd year then totally jetted upward, so have our other young players for the most part.

We hoped he'd be a Belt/Freeman, but he's not even close to them (4.1, 6.1 fWAR respectively). Eric is Yonder Alonso or Pedro Alvarez in 2016.

Good news: he's likely to do his good year in 2017. And it's his walk year. I expect 3-4 fWAR from him and a pat on the back as he leaves the door in December

And I can't root for Canada anything. Go Orioles.

The most frustrating thing about Hosmer is that his swing is so complicated, I don't think he will ever have a season where he avoids the month-long slump.

That's the main reason I've moved off team "keep hos."

He is going to have to make major adjustments when his bat speed starts to go, or he will drop off in a hurry.
