Pioli took a shot because the Chiefs needed a QB and it was obvious NE wasn't going to be able to keep Cassel. It hasn't worked out the way anyone hoped.

Ya I'm so owned right now...

Yet to be pointed in the direction of a GM batting 1.000 or the name of a 2009-11 QB who puts us in a better position today.

It is not too early to wonder where Peyton Manning will be playing next season. If the Colts end up with the No. 1 pick, don’t trade it and take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, and if the Colts decide against keeping both players, Manning could be traded or released.

In an Insider piece, Mel Kiper looks at the teams that he thinks are the most likely destinations for Manning if he becomes available. The Chiefs are fourth on his list. I could see the reason why, but I’d be surprised if it happened. Still, Kiper correctly, in my opinion, argues the Chiefs would be the team to beat in the West with Manning as their quarterback. The combination of a healthy Kansas City roster and Manning would be pretty nice.

I think the Broncos should be on this list. Yes, I know Tim Tebow is there (how could I forget). But the truth is, the Broncos haven’t made their decision on whether to keep Tebow as the starter next year. I think he is getting closer to securing the job every week, but the team is still open-minded.

You don’t think John Elway wouldn’t want to work with Manning? Hall of Fame quarterbacks usually are partial to Hall of Fame-in-waiting quarterbacks.

I do agree with Kiper’s top destination for Manning if he does leave the Colts. Washington's Mike Shanahan has always loved Manning and the two men get along well.

He doesn't deserve a pass for the QB but he also doesn't deserve heat for the QB.

Want to explain the inherent contradiction in this post?

I'm actually with you on this.

I think the big miss right now was Dalton. Other than that, there are QBs who came out that are better than Cassel (Sanchez, Freeman), but they are not franchise QBs.

I would not be suprised to see Peyton retire. Someone with sense needs to pound that into his brain. One good sack and drive into the turf could potentially equal him eating through a straw the rest of his life.

Right now, our position is holding our knees or ankles depending upon personal preference, and this is largely due to the ineptitude of our "franchise" QB, acquired by the "Executive of the Decade."

As one minor example, this team is WAY better off right now with Matt ****ing Cassel than it would be with a piece of shit like Andy Dalton, whom we had no chance at acquiring in the first place.

I'm really disappointed in you, Johnny. You've been awfully naughty. Now, I'm not giving you a pass, but you're also not in trouble. I mean it, buster!

I'll never understand this Dalton love.

He's managing the games just like Cassel and Sanchez.

Simply Red 12-04-2011 12:03 AM

i just hope Charles fully recovers from that shit, hell and berry & ToMo, too. Honestly - they're my biggest concern, ultimately.

On that note, Good night.

I think he should have clearly known Cassel was the answer. But it does seem that the choice was either to die from AIDS or die from Antifreeze poisoning.

Cassel's less expensive doppelganger was already on the roster when Pioli was hired. Therefore, the prudent thing to do was to stay put and look for a better option via the draft (preferably), trade, or FA. Don't acquire the same, or lesser, piece of shit and pay him more money.
