Nobody made him sign that crappy TV deal-so KC fans can't watch games locally on regular channels anymore.

He has made a fortune on the Royals since he bought them in an increase in team value. I think he will be able to stay off food stamps. :D

I never said he didn't make a lot of $ on the Royals so I'm not sure what your point is. It's possible he signed a bad deal but I'm not certain you can prove he could've gotten any more at the time and in this market.

All irrelevant anyway. He won the World Series. He can tell his critics to eat shit now.

Well we did get Jack shit that year and half wit threw a fit.

He probably still doesn't realize we went to the world series that year losing in game seven.

Jack Schitt was one of Daytons greatest moves

Glass is guaranteed to take some decent losses the next 3 years. Cannot be avoided unless he just slashes every arb guy and signs zero FA. At 125M in payroll, he's only got 100M in additional revenue to fund the entire operation. His payroll/revenue ratio is significantly above the MLB avg.

Of course, I was one of the few who argued vs the Cerner boys buying this franchise, because of the 40M or so debt service they'd have to pay out. Looking how thin Glass is operating vs his revenues.......how about taking another 40M off that?

The amount of new merchandise that's been sold is insane as well. That combined with all the extra revenue from postseason home games has given Glass a nice chunk of change.

Why Not? 04-25-2016 07:10 PM

Watching the Tigers A's game. My God, the Tigers defense is embarrassingly horrid

Dartgod 04-25-2016 08:05 PM

So who's got the game thread tonight? I could start it, but the last time I did, we got our butts kicked (Game 2 vs. the Mets).

Might not matter that I won't see the end of this one anyway.

Al Bundy 04-25-2016 08:32 PM

Looks like Kennedy is trying to get this one over...

The biggest win is the entire generation of loyal customers that were cemented the past 2 years. Nothing improves the value of a business more than expected future cash flows and now fans will come out even with mediocre teams because they know the team *can* win. Not be a permanent no-hope embarrassment

I wonder if players notice the 800,000 at the parade and the fact we spend way more than the avg % of revenues and think "Not the worst place to play"

True, but I factor that into the value of the team.

Just thinking about this, consider 2 teams per Forbes. When Dayton was hired in 2006 vs now:

Oakland value: 234 / 725 (+209%)
KC value: 239 / 865 (+262%)

Oakland revenue: 134 / 208 (+55%)
KC revenue: 117 / 273 (+133%)

http://www.forbes.com/lists/2006/33/Rank_1.html

Not entirely apples to apples but Beane got a 2.5-4% equity stake depending on source, worth $18-30M. Dayton has a damn good case to walk into Glass' office for a little chat.
