She wasn't really left off anything and she did participate in the team competition. She just couldn't compete in the individual all around because a maximum of two participants from each country are allowed. It really did suck for her because in the qualifying for the individual all around she finished third overall but she happened to also be third on her team. Kind of like an 8-8 team making the playoffs from winning the division while a 10 win team gets left out.

But at least she won gold in the individual all around in the last Olympics so it worked out best that the other two girls got gold and silver.

Toss up between that and the U.S. men's gymnastics.

Wow. Just watched an Ethiopian shred the 10,000 meters WR by like 20 seconds or something...and then jogs around the track holding her flag a few more laps. Amazing.
