If you don't count the 41 they gave up to the Chiefs. |
The big reason you can’t just compare stats is because stats have zero context.
When you add context to the defensive stats for both teams (yardage is similar, points are similar, sacks and other pass rushing stats favor the Chiefs heavily), the Chiefs numbers look better and the Bengals numbers look significantly worse. And yes, I’m only comparing the defenses. If you can’t slow Mahomes and co down a little, you have no shot. Even when your offense plays well, it doesn’t matter. Mahomes has another level that no one else can reach. Even walking off the field with a 3 point lead and 13 seconds with the number 1 defense doesn’t matter when Mahomes can do what he wants. |

Bart Scott always picks against us. Didn’t he predict we would miss the playoffs this year?

And one thing about that AFC Champ game is that Mahomes locked in on Tyreek and Kelce. This year, he has been spreading it around a lot more. I'm not saying this game couldn't be close. As we've seen, some teams just seem to match up better or play better against us. And they are the defending AFC Champs, not some bumbs. This won't be easy. But I'm willing to bet that Patrick comes out with a focus like no other. And when he plays like that, we are damn near impossible to beat. |

There was probably a whole section in his notebook of play designs for this game that they haven’t seen yet. |
