Not really, since my scenario would have USC playing LSU and nobody would care of they were both 7-4. In the current scenario, it does matter. Big dogs pad their records against weaklings and that's how they move up in rankings, which denote to fans what is a big game.

Barry Alvarez: Big Ten Agrees To Stop Playing FCS Opponents In Football

Football fans of major BCS conference football powers sometimes cringe when their teams take-on most FCS football teams.

There are some FCS football powers, like the North Dakota State Bison (who recently won their second consecutive national title), but with results like Oregon’s 63-14 victory over Tennessee Tech for example, some conferences are looking in a different direction.

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez shared some information regarding a new agreement between the Big Ten football conference members on his monthly radio show Tuesday night, Jeff Potrykus of the Journal-Sentinel reports.

Big Ten officials recently agreed to stop scheduling nonconference games against FCS programs, according to Alvarez.

“The nonconference schedule in our league is ridiculous,” Alvarez said on WIBA-AM. “It’s not very appealing…So we’ve made an agreement that our future games will all be Division I schools. It will not be FCS schools.”

With the new post-season format on the horizon and the additions of Rutgers and Maryland, scheduling could become a factor to determine the top four seeds within the playoff system.

There is not a set date for this agreement so stay tuned as this story develops.

He's right about one thing, North Dakota State has a hell of a football program.

Manziel possibly going pro in a couple years is the elephant in the room? Really?

Okay, I guess. Go ahead and start the dialogue. I didn't realize this was so near and dear to your heart. By all means, let's tackle this uncomfortable topic even though nobody likes to talk about it (what with it being the elephant in the room and all).

Dodds forgot the cardinal lesson of athletics, you're only as strong as your weakest link. And the Big 12 is mostly made up of weak links right now.

I'll ask again: if it's such a crappy league, why did Mike Slive sign a post-season bowl contract with them?
