Drafting Geno is what half the fans want and what half the fans don't know they want yet.

Once he's drafted, the other half will know they want him.

There isn't a more popular move that Clark could make than drafting Geno Smith first overall.
Popular, yes.

But if the next coaching staff wants a different QB it's probably not gonna happen.

Clark will demand a QB #1 overall. I don't think he'll demand a specific QB.

Yep.

Would you take Mark Sanchez over Aaron Curry?

We need to prepare for backlash when whoever we draft inevitably goes through growing pains.

The 27/7 crowd is waiting to pounce.

Burt, half the fanbase, will support the Chiefs no matter what. They've gotten on board with Poe, with Jackson, with whatever pick is made and showed up to support the team. Until they start losing, then they get tired of it.

That part of the fanbase will support whoever the Chiefs pick, they just don't knwo it yet.

Most likely......

You could easily subsitute Wilson or Barkley for Smith.

I used Smith in my argument because this is the Geno Smith thread but the point still stands:

Half the fanbase wants a 1st-round QB. The other half will accept him day 1 solely because he's on their team now.

To a point... you are correct.

We need to be prepared to ignore them, sure.

Then I will be ready to throw Mannings first year in their face, or whoever or whatever I have to.

I will not let that happen. I will not let our shiny new QB get shit on by our fans who don't know what they want.

they both ending up sucking ... lose/lose

which is kinda the point ... you don't draft a certain position JUST to draft it.

Good player is most important

That doesn't mean i'm AFRAID to take a QB or whatever

shit ... i figure about 50% of the 'we need to take a dam QB no matter what' crowd will turn on our rookie QB about game 3/4 if he struggles.

suddenly is will be 'I meant take a GOOD QB no matter what'

Hammock Parties 12-18-2012 12:04 PM

Well, this is one of the arguments for keeping SOC alive.

Especially if Cassel takes a pay cut and stays.

Why would there be growing pains? According to some on this board the kid has the best pocket presence they have ever seen, an elite arm, uncanny accuracy and phenomenal leadership skills. Why not hold him to the same standards as Newton, Luck, Griffin and Wilson?

See, I would somewhat disagree.

If you are drafting that high, whoever you draft has shown to be a "good" player. When it comes to that point, it's all about projections.

Sanchez, IMO, didn't quite have enough film to properly evaluate and project what he could/would become.

I'm always going with a QB in that situation, because the upside of hitting on the pick is exponentially higher than a LB.

Especially a MLB vs a QB. If we are talking about a pass rushing LB like Von Miller, ok I'd entertain that.
