The playoffs should be reserved for the best teams that earned the right to compete for the championship.

We have teams that get hot late in the season winning championships despite a fairly mediocre season on a fairly consistent basis.

Whats wrong with that? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/ext...ghlin.wind.jpg

IMO many moves that Goodell has made are for the good of the game, things that Tagliabue ignored. This fascination for a longer schedule is idiotic.

It seems to me that a better solution would be expansion.

More teams mean more money and more games as well as creating broader interest.

Plus, it gives us the additional opportunity to beat somebody like the Mexico City Brahmas like a ginger step-baby.

As soon as this happens the Chiefs go 16-0 and get pummeled by a 6-10 team in the playoffs.

Ok but some of those might be the best team but for whatever reason (injuries) they may have struggled early in the season but came on towards the end of the season.

I'm aware of that.

But regardless of the reason for that mediocrity, teams should not be rewarded for it.

We're half way to the playoffs baby!

That's what I was going to say. Add two more teams and suddenly it's not a bad idea. That puts the percentage of playoff teams at a little over 41%.

What's next? Everyone who participates gets a trophy?

So what is your solution? only have division winners?

Did the NFL gaming commision get abducted by Aliens lately? Who keeps dreaming up these realy stupid ideas to ruin a good game?

Bearcat 12-12-2012 08:02 PM

LMAO

The playoffs already aren't interesting until the 2nd round, and now they want to make the regular season much less meaningful (and it's pretty meaningless now).

I could see going to 14 teams IF - you pick them all as you would the wild cards. Then you would have fewer losing teams in the race. The 7-9 teams are the ones that win shitty divisions.

Like the year Chiefs were 10-6 and didn't get in, but a 7-9 team did in the NFC.

8 teams would be ideal.

Unfortunately, crappy teams can win crappy divisions.

So I'd give a little and add a wild card in each conference.

stonedstooge 12-12-2012 08:05 PM

Turn 2 pre-season games into regular season games and I'm all right with the number going to 18

KurtCobain 12-12-2012 08:08 PM

I think there should be only eight. Three divisions in each conference sending in division winners and one wildcard.
