Yeah, he was SO clutch in 1998.

He started 10 games and they SUCKED.

The Chiefs went 5-5 with Gannon started in 98.

2-4 with sir Elvis.

Brilliant decision making by Carl to keep Elvis from those results alone.

Of course Gannon looks good compared to Elvis.

Compare him to a REAL QB and he looks mediocre.

Because he was.

The myth of Gannon amongst Chief fans is amazing.

The issue isn't that Gannon was Mr. Amazing, it's that Grbac had absolutely no business starting over him.

That's why people say silly shit like "if Marty started Gannon, we go to the SB" right?

The Mayor 10-11-2012 09:51 PM

I will never forgive Marty for the "you can't lose a job due to injury" policy. I still get sick thinking of that playoff game. We were on a roll. We beat SF 49 to 0 and destroyed Oak the following week. That was our year. Still breaks my heart. Damn... Last Super Bowl contender we had was 97.

Had Gannon played that Playoff game vs Denver, we win.

Gannon was not great, but the Chiefs were winning.

Starting a guy with minimal playing time heading into the post-season is borderline reeruned.

They beat the hell out of everybody else. They beat us by 4, and it took a reeruned coach, a quitter QB, several cans of Pam, and two massively blown calls by the ref$ to pull it off.

And the failure of the worst 2 minute drill ever run in playoff history.
