hey, he backed it up, so what the hell. I'm sure we'd be laughing if he went 0-2

siberian khatru 07-15-2014 07:35 PM

Reynolds insinuating that Jeter is the father of his sister's baby

I know he's a Yankee, but although we may object to his overrated defense, even with that flaw he's objectively one of the greatest players in the history of the game playing in his last all-star game. This was going to happen, its not that much of a stoppage, and its probably appropriate.

Hes a great player, but sometimes he gets a little too much love IMO. There have bneen better players than him who didnt get nearly the recognition they deserved. He only gets it because of the team and market he plays in.

So how come every time I turn on the ASG, they're blowing some Yankee dude. WTF???

He will go to Cooperstown on merit alone, barely. But he's one of the clutchest hitters of all time. The statistics back that up and there are lots of stats nerds that have tried to prove it wrong.

His numbers are literally as good or better in the playoffs and in what are considered clutch at bats. And unlike most players, he has enough of those at bats where those statistics are meaningful. That is pretty amazing when you consider that a lot of those clutch at bats came against closers and those playoff at bats come against playoff pitching.

That, and he came through and delivered several iconic plays. We've had this argument before on here. He probably isn't as good as his hype... but he has come through in a handful of critical iconic plays in big games, so that's what he'll be remembered for. That's sports.

barely? Are you kidding me?

Forget playoffs or clutch, he is #9 on the hit list.

Why do guys try sliding into 1st base? Its not faster than running thru it.

Dartgod 07-15-2014 08:06 PM

This. You can't argue his clutch hitting. I don't get the knock on his D either, he wasn't the best fielding ss but he used to make some phenomenal plays.

Not surprised. It's the Royals.

Many guys who play along time but aren't performing well near the end of their career go rather silently. But this one gets all the publicity and a ****ing all-star start while blowing dick because he's a Yankee. LAME.

Because they are dumb jock athletes.

We can coach them, but if they wanna slide into first like an idiot, they will. The only reason to slide into first is if the defender wont make it to the bag and they are trying to swipe-tag you.
