I know you don't want a response from me but I agree with you. I think Mitchell has played in the middle as well as Beisel did. Mitchell doesn't have the picks but he's been doing fine.
I think people are still upset because the Chiefs drafted him and not the guy they wanted.

i wasn't on until now ... so i didn't respond ... but i can tell Htismage's panties are in a wad.(this is one of his pet peeves)


are people irritated about drafting a guy who had 1 good game in college(as far as i can tell) ... yes.

mitchell got drafted because of his play against oklahoma and because he looks good in shorts.


is our defense good with Beisel/maz in there ... nope.

our secondary suks so bad, that im not sure ray lewis would actually be enough.


but its pretty clear that the flow of the defense is better when mitchell isn't at MLB. Maybe it's the defensive calls that the middle linebackers has to make? maybe it's because mitchell does his best to shove his helmet up the ass of his own defensive lineman so frequently. :shrug:


but the defense 'seems' more solid with maz or beisel in there. Maybe it's because they are too slow to over pursue? :p


but the defense looks like a piece of swiss cheese when mitchell is out there and he has started like 11 games in his carreer already.

OK Parker, I'll bite, Mitchell has looked better. But I might add that he is still easy to block and bites on too many play fakes.

He needs to learn to shed blocks better and set him self up for the point of attack,.He gets to the hole to early at times and trys to make tackles either head on or trying to fend off blockers head on.

In fact, I never said ONE THING about whether or not Mitchell was good, bad, or anything else. He's beyond bad. JUST LIKE BEISEL.

It's not progress. It's acknowledging reality.

I insisted last season and this season that the ONLY thing that separated Mitchell from Maz or Beisel was potential. He's now shown that said potential is either greatly diminished or doesn't exist altogether.

They ALL suck.

I like his speed on pursuit, but he needs lots of work on tackling, point of impact, and sheading blockers. All of these things are coachable, does he have it upstairs to learn ?

I'm not harping here, that why I liked another LB in TC, he showed me he can do the things Mitchell has yet to show. IMHO, he's head and shoulders better than Mitchell, but that's just me. We all know that DV & Gun can judge talent well, right. I feel they are missing the boat on this kid. Thru the practices, maybe he can get their attention long enough to give him a look.

The day will come when he gets his chance, I do expect him to do well when the time comes.

I think you're comparing apples to oranges here.

Beisel has played MLB all of 5 games.

Mitchell has been playing it for the last 5 years.

To me they both suck, but I would say that Biesel might suck worse based on the lack of experience he has at the position. But seriously what do you expect? We take DEs, convert them to MLBs and safetys to corner.

Yeah, I think Laz is focusing on my defense of Mitchell earlier in the year and last year, when in reality it's more about my LACK of faith in Maz and/or Beisel. I'm done defending Mitchell. He's just as bad as the other two.

I am befuddled by the whole LB situation. I find it hard to believe that we used to plug in street free agents like Chris Martin, Walker Lee Ashley, Tracy Simien, Tracy Rogers, Lonnie Marts, and Anthony Davis and we got great LB play. Now we sign a supposedly solid LB like Barber and draft Mitchell in the 2nd round, and our linebacking sucks. We drafted Donnie Edwards and Greg Favors in the 4th round, and both became starters late in their rookie years. I am still rooting for Kawika, but how much time can we give him? And with Barber hurt, there's no reason Fox shouldn't be starting. Hell, his college teammate (Darryl Smith) broke the starting lineup of the team who had the 2nd best rushing defense last year. Yet Fox can't crack our stellar lineup.
