A good Vietnam movie often overlooked is "Go Tell the Spartans," starring Burt Lancaster.

Not exactly a movie, but I am a huge fan of Ken Burns' The Civil War

That is a good one. A downer, for sure [kind of a “DUH!” given the title], but a good one. As far as a favorite, I would have to go with “Saving Private Ryan.” Much like “Silverado” in the Western genre, “Saving Private Ryan” takes the best parts of old war movies and presents it with good acting, modern film technology and butt-kicking sound. xoxo~ Gaz Admits to a soft spot for the bazillion John Wayne war flicks. |
Patton
Gettysburg Band of Brothers (Even though it's not technically a movie) And for some reason, I'll always watch Heartbreak Ridge if it's on. |
I love war movies especially any WWII movies so my favorites are:
Saving Private Ryan Platoon Band of Brothers (technically not a movie) The Great Escape |
Pretty much all of them.

"War of the Roses." It doesn't get any nastier than this.
