backup DT...

Let the guy compete for a starting spot and if something happens to one of the other tackles, move him back to tackle. Get your best guys on the field.

We don't have enough depth at DT to put Browning at end. If Junior was ok it might be different. But we will have to wait for the cuts to see if we can add to DT position and it looks like everyone is looking for that big DT over most of the league.

God forbid if Johnson wasn't there at 15 this year - who knows who we would have drafted;/or how far we would have traded down for X number of meaningless late round picks.

Johnson at 15 was the easiest 1st round pick for the Chiefs in years. A no brainer.
King Carl actually tried to trade down out of that pick but nobody would take him up on his offer

As was their trading of their 2nd rounder for Patrick Surtain.

This year, it was pretty hard for the Chiefs to go wrong in the first day of the draft this year. As easy as it would have been for them to F it up, they didnt.

Johnson, Surtain, and Colquitt are all looking like surefire bets to be a tremendous asset to the team this season.

I also wished we would have brought in a decent #2 CB like Herndon, Henry, etc. rather then signing a bunch of scrubs that might not even make the team. It seems like the coaches and front office were pretty sure that Warfield was going to get suspended. It also seems like we have enough flexibility left that we could have handled signing another decent sized, but not large contract.

Wallcrawler 08-14-2005 11:28 PM

Yeah, but I doubt it would be used at the corner spot though.

With the glaring issues at defensive end, and the recent fiasco with Junior Siavii, I would think that if the Chiefs add anyone else on defense, it would be on the defensive line.

Pat Williams and Chike Okeafor are looking mighty fine right now.

There will be Collins haters out there, but Huard at backup doesn't exactly give me that warm fuzzy feeling.

However, it IS just for preseason, and it will give us more time to see Killian play.

I would rather have Huard out then Collins, but it will be nice to see Killian playing for a longer period of time against better competition.

I didnt know Pat Williams was available.

Sheeeeit. Id cut Junior's ass in a heartbeat if it would free up the cash to bring him in. He might be old, but he can still draw the double teams and stuff the run. Move John Browning out to the end, and the Chiefs actually might muster up some nice results from the D-line.

As for the QB situation, Collins is a terd, but he will be back for the regular season to take his rightful place as top benchwarmer. It will be good for Killian to get some good playing time in his absence, because in reality having two backups that are over 30 years old is not really the best planning for the future of your team.

No QB pressure? DAMNIT!

DaWolf 08-15-2005 02:41 AM

Good to see Jimmy making the move up. Hopefully he can stay there. Jared Allen, I keep getting the feeling that this is our next Eric Hicks. I just have the feeling that he's not going to be nearly the same player pass rush wise this year that he was last year...

"Safety Jerome Woods also did not practice, with an inflammated knee.

thank God it isn't strainded!
